Songs you wished Prince had covered?

For me, it's gotta be "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd, an acoustic version with his voice would have sounded absolutely beautiful, like the acoustic set he did on the Musicology tour!

this is something i'm very curious about, regarding the vault. i wonder how many cover songs
are in there and if they will ever release them on a compilation or something. it would be so
interesting to see what songs he covered, especially unexpected choices.

Covers are cute n' all, but I don't need to hear Prince sing them. He has plenty of his own music I want to hear. The only thing close is if there is a version of Madonna's "Like A Prayer". Otherwise, release original tunes from the vault.

Otherwise i'd say: Bridge over Troubled Water

"Big Yellow Taxi"

They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot SPOT

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
Then they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em

Don't it always seem to go,
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

Hey, farmer, farmer,
Put away that DDT now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til its gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

Late last night I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi took away my old man

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

I said
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

I know it's a cliche but I would have loved to hear his take on Kate Bush's THIS WOMAN'S WORK.

Also,

ONCE IN A LIFETIME by The Talking Heads

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE LET ME GET WHAT I WANT by The Smiths

LET'S GO by The Cars

DRIVE by The Cars (reportedly one of his favorite songs)

RAIN by Patty Griffin

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS by Foreignor

IMMIGRANT SONG by Led Zeppelin

THEM CHANGES by Buddy Miles

JUST LIKE HEAVEN by The Cure...

He actually DID play Them Changes WITH Buddy Miles at the aftershow in the Cabaret Metro in Chicago in 1993.

David Bowies classic Moonage Daydream - preferably during his SOTT or Lovesexy period. I think he could’ve done that song justice.

Fire and Skin Tight by Ohio Players. With his love for those songs, I would have thought he would have done them often as he did with Love Rollercoaster. I really love his cover of Let's Go by The Cars that he performed at the shows in 2011.
