Was that a real organ on stage? So, I've recently watched the Parade, SOTT and LoveSexy tour and I noticed the organ which most believe to be a Hammond organ (particularly a B3). Please all my gear heads out there help me out!!! I know for a fact that Prince and Fink were good for pimping out gear, the cp80 got put into a grand piano body for the Parade tour and eventually swapped the guts for a Roland MKS module and a weighted board was put in the grand body by the time the nude tour came along. But, here's the thing, listening to the organ on those shows and rehearsals it doesn't sound like a Hammond organ at all. Especially from SOTT/LoveSexy tour where it's really thin and I know a Hammond organ has way more balls that what's on those shows and tapes. Was it a DX7 or D50 or fairlight dumped into a Hammond body running through a rotary simulator? We can tell that Mr Hayes is playing a real B3 because we can hear it AND the Leslie is obviously upfront. I know this is a seriously random post but I'm curious because it's bugging me. I'd appreciate all you guys input and ideas. I sincerely love all living beings...so f**k your feelings.

Not sure about later tours, as more and more his pianos would be synthesizers, but during the Under The Cherry Moon tour, the hammond was real. Not sure as to what type though. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

The Hammond was real in the SOTT movie. Not sure about on tour or if that part was filmed at Paisley Park or not.

It didn't know it was playing in a cathedral. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It was, and it was the first time I remember seeing it in a show. It sure wasn't on the PR Tour. Morris Hayes played that acrylic clear one later on. You could see the fan moving in it, too. I'm glad he incorporated it into his music, opposed to using a synth in a cabinet that looked like an organ (like his purple piano he used thru 1985). But I think even the blue Beautiful piano was a synth as well. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
