Another never-before-heard story (for me), thank you. This is my favorite Prince song- iconic! Along with SOTT, I can still remember the very first time I heard this song. I have the 45 on purple vinyl biggrin

As always...thank you, Latin! When I listen to it with my eyes closed real tight, I sometimes feel like 25 again, LOL.

never been my favorite but i never argue with those who sing it's praises. This was his peak as a commericial artist but like any great artist there was already great songs that came before.

Heard it on the radio and was hooked. Saw the music video on MTV and was a Prince fan since. My first Prince 45 single. I was probably the only Prince fan in my class in high school and I didn’t mind. And here I am still listening to Prince 35 years later. cool

Yes! There is a whole thread on here based only on that guitar riff.

Same. Saw it on MTV and was hooked. That beat was hot, sweaty, bump-and-grind S.E.X. to my 13 yr-old ears before I even understood what in the heck was going on!

How could you be! Prince was massive in 1984/1985.

A certain kind of mellow.
