Your favourite unofficial remixes?

My two standouts are Controversy (Discotron Remix) and Runing Up That Hill vs Sign of the Times ...

...
what unofficial remixes crank your volume dial?

There's a mix of "Naughty Girl" from Beyonce and the mid-section from "Batdance" called "Naughty Bat Girl" or something. It's pretty cool.

DJ Foefur's 80-minute mix is still legendary.

I personally still love my own mix of Mayte & Prince's versions of TMBGITW, that I called "The Most Beautiful U In The World".

"Are You Gonna Be My Motherfucker?" is a mix of "Sexy MF" with Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and some Sam & Dave thrown in, too. DJ Zebra is on the ID3 tag for it.

I've always loved Controversy (Stupid Fresh Mix) because it is synth-funky. I find that the Discotron one just drags on an on with the same overlaid beat, but it is decently produced.

Speaking of The Dawn; the version of Now mixed with Face Down is quality

Ta for the heads up ... that's a tasty mix! I still do the occasional rave about once a year, and this would fit in perfectly in a modern house set. I think the Discotron mix is closer to the sounds of 1981 when the original track came out, so I think that's why I prefer it.

did Prince intentionally put lesser quality mixes of tracks on albums so we HAD to buy remix cds etc to get the best versions?

yes, and his layering of two songs at a time does count as remixes!

Mine isn't, and I couldn't find the Beyonce one on there or Soundcloud.
