Like a beautiful vignette that never develops fully. Like we have glimpsed into a window while passing a house with the curtains drawn at midnight. A portrait of heartbreak in sound. I would like to see it fleshed out too, with a version in this vein, and maybe another version that lifts and soars into a more rock or orchestral sweep. Like strays of the world but not so OTT. | |

Jill sings this song at a piano,when she thinks that nobody is around.The Kid,however,walks in and watches.There is a pic of Jill at the piano and it's supposedly from this deleted scene.

I think the shortness of it works, Like I Wonder U and Tamborine
It was just a snapshot into the character Jill's emotions and feeling. Too much and it might not have been good
Jill said when she was shooting the scene with Al Magnolia, that Prince walked in an stopped it, not wanting that narrative to go further.

Interesting. Jill was the total package. I have this crazy idea that Carmen Electra was Prince's remix of Jill. Just not on point. Jill would be a great source for a book and insight to tracks and unreleased work. | |

I wish I could explain. Jill had the looks and could sing. She was mesmerizing in GB. She stuck it thru even when Prince cut her short. She reminds me of the star who had the talent, but not the break. I like her singing, better than Vanity and Appolonia. Perhaps if Prince was more focused, who knows what could have happened. And to be honest, I never really paid much attention to Jill. It just seem like she was more in the mix than fans knew. I am sure she inspired Prince as much as the others. I could be wrong. | |

I agree, she was mesmerizing. I don't think any of the protege groups from 1981-1987 were not total packages. I mean the vision was set and they delivered. . For me I don't have to compare Jill and Vanity (Apollonia doesn't count-in that she wasn't trying to fill a protege role) Vanity obviously had a stronger drive and charisma. She was stunning. But they were just two different people. Morris and Sheila in their element were mesmerizing too. . Yes I agree, if Prince was more focused. But I think Jill somehow contributed to it. I cannot put my finger on it. But I agree she was in the mix somehow but I think it worked against her somehow. | |

Very great points. I can’t compare Jill to Shiela, to me, different categories. I don’t know much about Jill, but Shiela can play. I guess my comparison to Appolonia was unfair The relationship I see in my head between Prince and Jill is the track Strange Relationship. OldFriends4Sale said:

But When you look at how he interacted, dealt with a lot of the people back then that he loved(male and female/romantic and platonic) Strange Relationships is the title lol
How he dealt with Morris Day/The Time was probably even more 'strange relationships'
I think the thing we don't know is 'what is the deal Prince & Jill arranged' that left her in that place? | |
