Yeah, but Prince was the whole package - beautiful, sexy, mysterious, smart, and ridiculously talented - the whole package...not to mention HIS package which was often prominently displayed under his tight pants Do I need to post a pic of him during the Parade tour?!! Good Lord, he was small but big in all the right places...and don't get me started on that awesome ass!! [Edited 3/1/19 13:36pm]

oh come on! y'all seen her body right?
Ingrid never stood a chance in hell!

Ingrid had a good body - she just wasn't wearing hot pants, bra tops, and f**ck-me pumps while spinning, bending and gyrating across a stage. Ya know....she wasn't doing the stripper thing Carmen (aka Tara) was styled, named, and packaged for that persona, and she continued on with it after leaving PP.

I think Prince was over Ingrid's material, it took years for her record to come out since they started working together. She was part of the stain of Graffiti Bridge and from what I remember reading of Michael Koppleman's account, Prince was miffed at the direction he and Ingrid took her record. . So it was probably part his usual creative ADD and being wrapped up in his current obsession, and part sour grapes at what Ingrid was achieving without him. By the time Ingrid's album came out, he was over the flowery spirituality of Lovesexy and Griffiti Bridge and was trying pop-rap and hip-hop on for size. He could've gone with Robin Power at one point, but he probably thought Carmen was more "marketable".

No question that Prince lost interest and moved on from ideas/styles of music pretty quickly. I think, while the poet-speak/artistic expression music seemed to attract his attention during his "dark" period prior to LoveSexy, it was just too far out of mainstream pop for him. He seemed to always want to be ahead of a trend or on trend with regard to mass popularity. * I completely understand him nixing Robin Power and her thing though. Not even sure what he was thinking at that time - based on the videos I've seen. Awful, just awful. * I think he had the "sex colored glasses" on with Carmen. He was sleeping with her, and wanted to make her the next "it" girl. Didn't work. She was not talented enough, and female performers - even mainstream pop females - were mostly getting away from the whole "sexpot" image by that time. They were doing the whole "strong female" thing. Even Madonna beefed up her muscles during that time. * Per Alan Leed's statements, Prince was actually competing with him for better sales on Carmen's record vs. Ingrid's Alan said he was like, "dude, we're on the same label!!"

. Then why was she so hard to understand in the few live shows I witnessed? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I remember not just when I saw Carmen perform at my weekly visits to Glam Slam LA. But when Prince(r.i.p.) included her in an advertisement on his long form video for the Symbol album, with the still unseen preview(that I was SO looking forward to) of the "And God Created Woman" video.
Why did Prince NEVER release this video?! "That mountain top situation is not really what it's all cracked up 2 B when was doing the Purple Rain tour had a lot of people who knew 'll never c again @ the concerts.just screamin n places they thought they was suppose 2 scream."

I never saw her live, but from everything I've read she was just no good at rapping, which was a good portion of her act. She was also not a vocalist or trained singer, so I'm sure that didn't help with her live performances. She was pulled off of the Diamonds and Pearls tour as the opening act, and then ended up as one of the Glam Slam dancers before she left the camp and moved back to LA.

He did, too. Prince always won. Actually, he did not make her a star as a singer/performer at all. She went back to LA and landed the gig on MTV, which is what really put her name into the mainstream. Well, that plus her Playboy spreads and the Dennis Rodman fiasco

I often wondered about this but that very short clip with the petals in the water could have been taken from the 3 Chains O' Gold film (where the naked chicks are in the pool with Mayte). So we don't know if there is a video for And God Created Woman. . I suppose if there was he'd have put it in the film. Shame though as it's the best song on the album for me.
