True dat. 70s too. The 60s happened during the 70s for the mainstream. Accountants, bankers and insurance salesmen dropped acid at the disco along with everyone else. They always try to make a "decade style" fit in the 10 years alloted, but they really don't.

She doesn´t sound too sure about what exactly he took. First of all , she admits that she wasn´t even around when he recorded this song so it´s just hearsay, really, and even if it´s true, it could have been anything from weed to LSD to mushrooms (as she also says in the interview). I wonder if we will get to hear or read the full story one day and from those who were actually around when this supposedly happened.

That was done in the weeks after he died. Claims were made they saw him at a particular resturant eating steak. What is funny, at the time it was believed that he forced Mayte into being a vegetarian or a vegan i forget which during her pregnancy, but now after her book we now know she encouraged him to be one. Which has lead me to just accept little fabrications have made their way into Princelore for decades so take them with a grain of salt.

I don´t believe that he never took drugs (except for that infamous ecstacy trip before he created Lovesexy) but I doubt that he did any drugs regularly.

It´s a bitter irony that most news outlets still make it look as if he was into drugs and overdosed. It just sounds wrong and incorrect to me. I think there´s a difference between being dependent on painkillers and dying from a mislabeled pill as compared to, say, the drug habits of Motley Crue or other rockstars.

I love to hear Susan talk about her time w/ Prince, but her lack of details on this makes it a non-story for me. She had a similar lack of details with the time Prince was on ecstasy with Ingrid, and had her come to the studio late at night. She saw he was high and left immediately. It is no secret he's tried X a few times w/ Ingrid.

I also didn’t know that it had been claimed by anyone around at the time (or by anyone in the camp at any time) that P and Ingrid ever took X together. I’m open to new information, but it would be news to me. [Edited 1/15/19 12:08pm]

I didn´t know that.

I have tried weed when i was young and I don't smoke weed or do drugs or consider myself a drug user. Just because Prince had someone give him acid and he tried it before doesn't make him a drug user.

There's nothing wrong with trying out drugs on occasion. I've tried several.

Opiates are tricky and nasty though. Highly addictive and can beat anyone. Always drew the line at that stuff for that reason.

As for the story, I can totally believe he tried it but, more to the point, I can see why he didn't like it. Acid is not the best experience for those types that demand total control.

That´s one reason why I´ve never tried LSD or mushrooms....the lack of control and the unpredictable effects. I´m surprised to see a huge comeback of psychedelic drugs these days, such as mushrooms, LSD and that vomit inducing plant that is so popular these days (ayahuasca?).

I can´t imagine Prince using such drugs more than once.

I think opiates give one the sense they are in 100% control until they find out too late they don't.

I read the very same thing in that I read that P got it from Cat (who got it from Anthony), took it and left (even though Cat had asked him to wait). The difference in what I read (vs. the account upthread) is that Ingrid did not take X with P when he took that dose. I read that he took the dose, then (after) went to a club where he met Ingrid for the first time. Did someone say that this account is wrong, such that Ingrid was there with P for the first dose...that Ingrid met him and tried it with him before arriving at the club? Ah, okay, I think I misunderstood your original post. You meant Ingrid and Prince taking the pill together. I thought you were questioning whether Prince really took the ecstacy pill at all.

From a safety standpoinbt, psychadelics are extremely low risk provided you're in a safe environment and dont's try to drive or something. AS far as harm to you body, long term abuse or addicitve tendencies, you're good and, believe it or not, there's been some success treating depression and ptsd with them. They CAN open doors and widen a person's perceptions in lasting ways so in a certain sense I can see a positive in their increasing popularity.

BEtter than alcohol, coke, heroin and many legal pills.
