Ultimate Rave, 3-disc set! The Prince Estate and Legacy Recordings are pleased to announce Ultimate Rave, a 3-disc set of Prince's pivotal new millennium releases coming April 26, 2019.
In 1999, Prince released the star-studded Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. For the first time in his career, Prince enlisted an array of established pop, folk, and hip-hop musicians from across the music industry to make cameo appearances on the album, including Sheryl Crow, Gwen Stefani, Ani DiFranco, Eve, and Chuck D.
Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic will be reissued on CD and offered on purple vinyl for the first time, and will also be available in an exclusive bundle with Prince's 2001 remix album Rave In2 the Joy Fantastic and the full-length performance version of his historic New Year's Eve party, Prince In Concert: Rave Un2 the Year 2000.
Originally broadcast as an In Demand Pay-Per-View concert, Rave Un2 the Year 2000 featured special guests like Maceo Parker, Larry Graham, George Clinton, and Lenny Kravitz performing with Prince at Paisley Park.

A lot of us have mixed feelings about these new releases, and I feel the same especially with the purple vinyl theme they’re obviously going to continue with. However I can’t complain when Sony Legacy are making these hard-to-get albums available on a wider scale as it has been years since these albums have been commercially available. I say keep going, because all my Prince albums (on vinyl) are worn out so I’ll gladly buy regardless of the vinyl colour. In good time we’ll have unreleased music to enjoy but for the time being, let them get all this reissue bullshit out of the way. Then eventually they’ll have nothing else to re-release. On a side note, if Rave doesn’t come with the poster I’m gonna freak! | |
