Paisley Park — why Graceland and not Motown? Why is it fans and others equate PP with Graceland rather than Motown? Sure Prince lived at PP, like Elvis lived at Graceland. But PP’s purpose was recording, and supported a large group of acts over the years... like Motown. Full disclosure — I’ve toured Motown, haven’t toured Graceland.

Because he was more Graceland in living at PP then being recording giant umbrella as a Motown due to the lack of success the Paisley Park record label had. Prince's empire was like Dez said back then, more Yardbirds than anything else. "Climb in my fur."

So far as I last knew, I believe Graceland Holdings only has a 5 year management contract. Who knows what happens after that. Maybe someone new to manage the Paisley Park Museum. Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end

maybe Prince wanted PP to be "associated" with Graceland...the iconic nature

A cult of personality vs. the recording studio that defined an era.
Motown was bigger than Barry Gordy. Paisley Park's artists were never bigger than Prince.
Paisley Park associates produced a lot of bad music, let's be real...and most of the cultural phenomenon hit songs Prince wrote for others weren't under that umbrella.
