And The Twins did all their Tina Turnering all over the stage without falling or even slipping.

Which brings me to the conclusion that maybe he practiced on wet stages?

This SuperBowl performance made me real curious too. Prince was going to perform for MILLIONS wearing heels in the rain and it didnt seem to bother him.

Ok, we all know how great he was as a live performer, but there were many chances of it being a fiasco (not only he falling, but instruments not working and things like that). Glad he delivered the best Halftime show and the rain added to it in the end.

i think when youre as practiced as prince, once youre up there it might be easier than it looks.

My thing was did he ever make it a practice because of how well it was pulled off.

My guess is no, he didn't. He winged it and it worked out. Unless someone shows up here and tells us otherwise. Seems like an obscure thing to practice. I mean, he could have been electrocuted.

Sometimes it rains really hard here at outdoor festivals, I mean really hard. Depending on the perseverance of the players, some stick it out as long as possible. But when the water stays flowing over all the cables, they have to shut it down.

Yes. He would regularly hose down rehearsal stages and perform sets. He had a few spills here nd there but it prepared him for rain soaked stages.

there was some great rock musician, forget his name but he died playing a wet electric guitar, the technical issues are the most common issues of course. I remember diana ross getting rained on in a huge central park concert.

I was just going to say – there are self-adhesive, non-skid products that you can stick to the soles of shoes. I'm sure someone ran out to a store in Miami that day and bought a bunch of them.

Even so, Morris Hayes said he almost wiped out because he started dancing a bit too much behind the keyboard.

He was singing live. For hell's sake, have you even WATCHED and noticed his two ad libs about the rain?
The rehearsal outfits were different (once in the orange suit from the press conference, the second in an orange suit with a blue shirt).

That sandpaper theory sounds correct. I also read somewhere that all the instruments (microphones and guitar included) had batteries inside and were wireless-amplified, so as not to have any cables and work out ok even under rain.

Chill now Winston. I’m pretty convinced it is - and the ad libs about the rain are what swing it for me, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if the vocals were live and the music was from the rehearsal. Was just sharing what I’d heard. Also, I think one of the Twinz says she did slip but it was when she wasn’t in shot.

I seem to remember an interview with one of the promoters and they said that they did have a back up rehearsal recording in case of emergency but they didn't need to use it.
