Did anyone see prince live when he was just starting out before he was signed?

I guess you would have to be from his home town or on holiday there at the time if you did what were your thoughts on what you were seeing did you think he was a star in the making?

I once met a guy at a party in Germany who was originally from Minneapolis and he claimed to have witnessed some sort of highschool concert by Prince, long before he was famous or had a record deal. Not sure if he told me the truth though.

A friend of mine who was from Minneapolis has a brother who was also in the high school band scene and she said Prince came to her house at least once. I laughed because she thought he was creepy. Mind you, she was only about 12 at the time . She also said when she was a little older she and her friends would go out and it was “ gee do we ha e to see that band again. She could not believe what a fan I was and was very smused

I would love to hear from someone who attended one of his
first Capri Theater concerts in early 1978.

He didn't. He got signed through the efforts of Owen Hussney. He didn't even have a band until then. As a younger dude he played with Morris and Andre in some high school bands, but he never "paid dues" in clubs nor did he secure a deal based on a talent scout seeing him live. In fact, his live game supposedly sucked and the label wouldn't let him tour right away like he wanted. They deemed the show and band not ready.

One of my husband's coworkers did early on. Not before his first tour but right after his first tour. The man hadn't heard of Prince before he saw him that night. I can't remember the name of the venue was but it was downtown Mpls.

that's what the lore is but from what his peeps say, prince had plenty of live experience before that and he claimed he played some hick town in the 85 RS interview growing up. Different venues and different types of audiences can shake you though, he didn't handle the huge rolling stones concert very well either, you cannot not have setbacks like that. Even Elvis bombed when he was young. The only artist I know of who never really bombed that I'm aware of is Michael Jackson, that is artist of that stature. Michael had a lot of support from early on. Everyone bombs sometimes, it's not something a person has complete control over, it's not just the audience, it's technical issues or just having a bad day or....,,,

Hey Pete , her brother was a music acquaintance of Prince and Prince popped into her house to see her brother or with him . She was just the curious little sister. She was so surprised to hear their was an org.etc I guess it was just familiar to her
