Today, I saw a Lovesexy CD in a secondhand store which had different cover art than the one we all know and love. It just had the Lovesexy lettering on a white cover. Anyone seen this before? Is it worth getting?

Ha...It looked official. I looked up the serial number and it said it was a UK reissue?

Can't remember the serial number but yeah, I suppose it could be folded inside out? I'll have another look the next time I'm in town.

Can't you find the Discogs (or other) entry you fond using your browser history?

It's probably just the booklet folded in a way that the title comes on the front page (I think he last page of the booklet is that page). Some recordshops sold them like that in the Netherlands back in the day.

Wasn´t there an altenate, censored version for the Saudi-Arabian market ?

We´ve also had several threads with the alternate cover (the portrait) that wasn´t used. It was a portrait of Prince with a pink heart around his face. I tried to google and post it here but to no avail.

I remember a fake Parade cover. I doubt, however, that those were official releases, developping countries aren't usually very strict when it comes to pirate copies.

Yep, that´s the one I meant. I couldn´t find the one with the pink heart around his head.

I think the Lovesexy album cover is one of the best album covers of all time, an artistic statement. But I wonder if he would have sold considerably more units if he had opted for the alternate album cover. On the one hand you want to make an artistic statement that includes the album cover as a part of the whole experience, on the other hand you don´t reach as many people as you would have liked to reach with that special message.

It´s a dilemma.
