If Emancipation was 1 CD, what tracks would you pick?

Maximum is 12 tracks. Here are mine

1. Jam of The Year
2. Betcha By Golly, Wow!
3. We Gets Up
4. My Computer
5. Face Down
6. Somebody’s Somebody
7. Emale
8. Sex In The Summer
9. Let’s Have A Baby
10. Slave
11. One Of Us
12. Emancipation

You try.

SadAntenna

Imagine if Emancipation had been 18 songs on a single disc (edited for length).

Then we'd now get the Deluxe Version with the other 18 songs plus the songs the ended up on Crystall Ball. We'd go nuts!

I'd change the name of the album to JOINT 2 JOINT.

And this'd be the tracklist:

1. Days of Wild
2. Face Down
3. Somebody's Somebody (live studio mix)
4. New World
5. The Human Body
6. Soul Sanctuary
7. Joint 2 Joint
8. The Holy River
9. In This Bed eye Scream
10. Saviour
11. The Love We Make
12. Friend Lover Sister Mother/Wife

I saw this and was just thinking, is it Tuesday again already?

As I always say...

The beauty of Emancipation is that we can all pick what we like. If we had Prince's, or anyone elses, one disc it woudn't match our own one disc. In fact, Emancipation could easily be 12 tracks that I really don't like.

But I'll play

Jam of the Year

Get Yo Groove On

Courtin Time

Sex in the Summer

The Holy River

Saviour

Slave

Face Down

My Computer

One of Us

the Love We Make

Emancipation

RIP sad

You're opening with a song that was not on the album, and is not even from the same era as the album no no no!

Yep. It’s probably one of the most popular ones, but there were no recent threads, so I made one.

It must the 3121th topic about this subject. Completely pointless and uninteresting, most people know how to use a CD player and skip the songs they don't like.
.
I m glad there are 36 songs on Emancipation, it allows to be less weary listening to it than if there were only 12 songs.
.
Emancipation is the album I played the most of Prince I think.

This is a good list. A friend and I once whittled down the album to one CD. I wish I could find that list.

My version would be (in no order):

Right Back Here In My Arms

Somebody's Somebody

Get Yo Groove On *

Damned If I Do*

I Can't Make U Love Me*

In this Bed eye Scream

One Kiss At A Time

Emale

Curious Child

Saviour

La, La, La Means I Love You (maybe)

Sleep Around*

My Computer

One Of Us (maybe)

The Love We Make

What if you had to pick just one CD that’s already on the album, would you choose disc one, two, or three?

That is a far better question than the OP.
Personnally I couldn't answer. The first listenings I preferred the CD1.
.
Then the 3rd CD appeared to me more efficient and fun.
.
But the 2nd CD, which I disliked more appeared more and more interesting, more experimental and personal. And there is no covers on it!
.
Quickly, I understood the 3 of them were great, formed a concept and that there was no point in not considering them apart from each other

I'd pick CD1.

Most times CD 1 on shuffle is good in any configuration.

I wouldn’t think it’s a better question, because people make custom lists and that’s better

The Holy River. I'd ditch the rest. One of his worst albums for me.
