I don't have my cd and album collection anymore. I bought every cd and cd single until 1995, but its all gone. And im totally fine with that. So what do you have now? A roof over your head and enough food I hope? And nothing else? No wait, you must have a computer or a mobile or at least a library card otherwise you wouldn't be able to log on to this site...

they have a point, packrats are mental, i threw away most of what i owned and only had a few regrets. during the recession, i couldn't save all the artifacts and paintings from my families childhood, no room, so it broke my heart but i had to break down the black velvet paintings that my mom had on the wall since we were kids, and throw them away, when it comes to survival, it's true, the less you have, the easier it is to move. nomadic cultures have a clear understanding of what's important for survival and what's not because they won't even lug extra food around, they can't afford to be packrats.

I didn't lose them but I let a very good friend and fellow Prince lover borrow a bunch of my Prince posters. She had moved back home to live with her parents to help them out financially as they were going through a rough patch money wise. She had them for a few years and then came home one day to find that her Dad had torn them down and threw them away. He didn't like Prince apparently.

All the original CD longboxes, but particularly the Around the World in a Day longbox that included song lyrics and credits. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

Yes. For the longest time I saved all my longboxes until it just got to be too much and in the garbage they went. It would've been cool to have a lot of those still.

I have never thrown anything Prince away. However, I have a friend who is a DJ with connections in LA. During a gathering with record industry people, he was given two golden vinyl 'The Gold Experience' records. One was the 'I Hate U' remixes and the other was remixes of songs from the CD. He decided to give me both of them and so he gave them to his wife to give to my wife. Well, she left them in the car with the heat and they melted. I hate her but I love her..... klick

As a soon to be former hoarder, who's in the process of getting rid of the hoard, I totally agree with you, and I feel so much better without all the stuff and clutter!

The shower poster.
But in general, I don't collect things. Memories make me happier than stuff. [Edited 2/12/19 17:19pm] And the MUSIC continues...forever...

The only time I ever was thinking of throwing any Prince stuff away was the morning of 4/21/2016. I intended to throw out my entire 30 year collection. No shit. I had a huge Home Depot garbage bag next to boxes in my basement. I was planning it for a while but only made up my mind to do it the night before. I was off work that day and I had felt I'd cut the emotional ties to Prince this was really the only thing left. I was down there like 'fukkdatni66a' and I hadn't listened to his music in recent years. I was aggrivated as hell with him, to say the least really, and I had finally made peace with cutting him out of my life. This was going to be the final straw. I grabbed some old magazines, to chuck into the bag when I noticed my Planet Earth cd's or whatever the hell it was he gave away with the newspaper, and decided to look up prices on Ebay before throwing them out. Before long I got distracted and started moving a refrigerator and then that's when I heard the announcement on Fox News, which I never watch, but for some reason had on that day. I was like HOLY SHIT, because what are the odds, that on the day I'm for the first time in my life willing to throw out Prince shi, that he would pass away? Astro-fukkin-omical I'm sure. Yet that's EXACTLY what happened and the trash bag is still down there next to the Prince collection today.

I haven't thrown any Prince stuff away. Came close with my box of audio cassette tapes, and VHS tapes, but I couldn't go thru with it, so they are rotting away in storage.

You sound pretty cynical, but its ok If you would have read my post i said i own the stuff in need in life, so yes, i have a roof over my head and food and a computer. What i don't have is a lot a stuff from the past laying around. I dont live in a museum where i have a my stuff from the past 46 years. Its nice to look at the past sometimes, but i don't live in it. I don;t know, im just very easy with throwing things away.

WOW! That means you're an old school fan like me. Which is hard to find. The New Bread fan club was a special place to be in. We were the chosen ones. Once during a house clean up somebody found my Gold Experience CD and gave it to a charity shop. I was angry, but at least somebody would be able to find the gold experience cheaply, and I bought a new copy so good, but I shouldn’t of needed to spen 40 DOLLARS for it. [Edited 2/13/19 11:54am] "Wish eye had a dollar 4 everytime U say, don't U miss the feeling Music gave u, back in the day"

I see why he went full religious in the later decades. Risque' is one thinbg, especially when you're young. But in a shower in briefs with a CROSS? No wonder folks around the way felt he was evil. "Climb in my fur."

much has been said about that, i'm sure he felt guilty as hell, not that he should have. the church shit that is fed to many of us we'll never be free of. In fact, he blamed the condition of his child to sins he committed. i really don't think god works that way Prince but I'll always respect your faith.

I haven’t seen this pic. Is the cross around his neck, like jewelry? Or are we talking a full size cross?? Pic if you have it.

not to sound mean but how couldn't you have seen this poster? it's part of the prince lore along with his not talking to dick clark and all the rest of the shit in his pre-superstar days. https://991.com/Buy/ProductInformation.aspx?StockNumber=3394&PrinterFriendly=1

During the Act II in Paris, I'm quite sure that a leaflet promoted the next VHS Hits videos (more ones that officially released). I threw it away and that reflected another project that never came to light. "Money won't buy U happiness but it'll pay 4 the search."

Yes I have seen that but I guess it has always been Cropped so I never saw the cross. And if I did see the cross I just thought “oh he is catholic his mom must have put crosses in the shower and everywhere”.(like any catholic) It didn’t dawn on me as a kid that that could have been a prop. And And there was no way I was gonna get to hang Stuff like that on my wall as a kid. So posters weren’t my thing and I didn’t revisit it.
