Emancipation: What are the drum machines and synths?

I really like those drum machines and synthesizers on Emancipation. prince sounded better when he left warner. Does anybody know what the synths and eletronic drums were, can u tell me?

Boy are you gonna get spanked by the "plastic sound" haters lol lol lol

I love that 96-01 sound, too, but I have no idea about the gear.

Maybe Militant has some ideas?

I recognize a few sounds/patches from the Roland XP keyboard. But not all that many - so its proabbly in there, but not as the main synth.

I'd ask the engineers. I've had great luck getting responses to emails from them.

a "Syntetic" album, Emancipation, sad

- what a huge disappointment it was for me, after the excellent "NPG Band albums".

The sound was so sterile in Emancipation after the warmer sound from Come, Exodus & especially: The Gold Experience,

It was my first big disappointment album-wise.. I was a 100% Prince fan since 1983.. suddenly I was in doubt, about Prince's music..... post- The Gold Experience.. it wasn't the same energy.

I have later enjoyed Musicology + Lotusflower + Art Official Age to the full... and Hit N Run Phase1 is amazing and a lot better than the reputation among hardcore fans, imo..
