Check princevault for the instrument question.

Just guessing but the 27 instruments are probably all variations on drums, guitar, bass guitar, keyboards/piano and probably orchestral percussion instruments like; claves, tambourine, bongo, xylophone, triangle, maracas, guiro, cowbell, jingle bells, wood block, temple blocks, castanets, cabasa, conga, timpani/kettle drum. He has also been known to play harmonica/mouth organ and saxophone but not to a high standard. that's 22!

Please rephrase your thread title and post in proper English, with proper punctuation. I have no idea what you're talking about. eek

Ah, OK, so the second half of the sentence was about this.

Still no clue what the title and first part of the sentence are about, though.

.

But anyways, the list of those 27 instruments (which is absolute BS, with every kind of keyboards and percussion detailed, and Charles Veal's strings credited to P) is detailed on the album's booklet, scans of which can be found on Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/P...se/6023931

FOR YOU is just another not certified Prince album, that should be gold in the US
.
Even if it is the weakest album of its WB era, I always thought it would be the most interesting potential deluxe edition.
.
With bonus material consisting of his early demos, and a documentary about the recording and the signing of the contract, it could trigger interest in a larger Audience, for followings deluxe editions.
And for the fans, these early demos, replaced in the context, are pieces of history ( like the "WB song")

I agree with Questlove. He’s playing 4 instruments. Guitar, Bass,Keys & Drums. They have like 10 different types of keyboard, so many different Drums,3 Guitars lol. 27 different types of the same four things.

Beyond the question of the instruments, don t forget the true performance of this overall weak album, is the fact that Prince performs all the voices and background vocals, where it would have been usual to use women doing the chorus.
.
The opening eponym track (which is also the beginning of HitNRun 40 years later!) Is really a performance, sadly way too short and not exploited to its potential.
.
His latest albums use too many times women during the chorus, it s really annoying, when the Prince of the debut would have made every voice tracks

pretty sure he's asking if it should be certified for 1 million sales by now. His catalog seems to be pretty out of date certification wise.

I agree with Questlove. He’s playing 4 instruments. Guitar, Bass,Keys & Drums. They have like 10 different types of keyboard, so many different Drums,3 Guitars lol. 27 different types of the same four things.

I thought it was pretty generous of the liner notes to list "handclapsandfingasnaps" as apparently only one instrument instead of 2. I'm going to go ahead and think of it as 28 instruments from now on.

Lordy, he even had the nerve to count handclaps and fingersnaps, but the lie persists to this day that he can play 27, like the lie he's part Italian in a bid to seem exotic. You could get away with this bs pre internet age...

haha, good one, but mark my words, other orgers will make a separate thread and extol its virtues by claiming that no one, but no one could fingersnap and clap like P...
