I did like what Fischer said in this piece, about getting to peer inside someone's mind when you study their music. I thing song lyrics and poetry are both like that. Artists say things in them that they would be too shy to voice in real conversation, but it can be said in art because it is somewhat veiled.
Prince never tried to explain the lyrics to us, he let us use our imagination to get what he was trying to say. So, not a forced situation on us, the listeners. Beautiful.....
