I don't think she had a terrible voice at all - just not a strong singer, which is understandable because that was not what she aspired to be - she wanted to be an actress. Considering that, I think she did just fine on the songs, and she had the stronger singers in the camp to provide the extra vocals needed to carry the songs.

How can I make this clear? You have a tendency for stating the all too obvious and it makes you appear as a wanna be know-it-all. We aren't newbies to the Prince world ya know. Now I know you want to respond to this and its gonna kill you inside to not do so. I also have played the "Purple Rain" album hundreds and hundreds of times, although probably not a million times. I've played it at the same kind of places you have - parties; camp outs; at the movies; etc. And like you, to every kind of audience imaginable.

And also just like you, no one has ever said "Wow, Apollonia can't sing".

I guess my experience is just like yours.

Even the Apollonia 6 record - Brenda, Jill, Susannah and Lisa were the main vocalists for that record. Apollonia's parts were posing for the album cover and lip syncing in the videos

Not Jill. It was Prince, Wendy, Lisa, Susannah, Matt, and Mark. Prince had the whole crew in there hiding her vocal Just kidding....I think she did fine for the song. It's meant to be a light, fun and "poppy" pop song, so her voice blends in okay. However, Jill did do backrounds on Ooh She Wa Wa for the A6 record. Brenda, with Lisa, Susannah and Jill on backrounds carried that album vocally for the most part, I think.
