Lotusflower, 3121, and Planet Earth as a triple album

I was just thinking of possibly making a Spotify playlist of tracks from Lotusflower, 3121, and Planet Earth, since a lot of songs were recorded in the same session. How would you sequence a triple album comprised of these songs? I'm looking for creative playlists in which the songs flow well, into and out of each other (not just the 3 album sequences crammed together). Has anyone attempted this?

Idk. Interesting question tho. I just don't like Planet Earth enough to put it's songs on regular rotation. The same could also be said of 3121. Imo. Of the three mentioned I like Lotus the best.
Anywho, maybe someone will leave a proper comment rather than rambling like myself wink

Never attempted this, but thought about how the weaker tracks on Lotusflower could have been replaced to make a more consistent rock album. In this fantasy, however, a Prince vocals version of Redhead Stepchild usually replaces 4ever and imagined studio versions of his Montreux renditions of All this Love and When I Lay my Hands on U replace FGFBFW and $, while Love Like Jazz is repalaced by the Montreux version.

Alas:
From the Lotus / Boom /Crimson and Clover /3121 /Colonized Mind /The One U Wanna C / The Word / 77 Beverely Park /Wall of Berlin / Lion of Judah / Dreamer / Return to the Lotus

Great thread! My thoughts, with outtakes and live tracks. Work in progres, hope some more outtakes will come in the future. Would love 2 hear Prince's version of Redhead Stepchild and also the Prince versions of the Elixer album. Black Sweat is from the Musicology periode, so I would put that on Musicology along with Silver Tonque and Glass Cutter.
Would love 2 hear your thoughts...thx.

Maybe go for a double album? Pretend it's Crystal Ball 1987 and you're a WB executive.

I might give this a go when I have a chance, sticking purely with streaming services and we'll have to use a bunch of the already existing segues.

Romeoblu

Just keep them as they are.

Love and The One U Wanna C are two of my favourite Prince songs. Incredibly enjoyable pop music.

IMO, these are the ones that would go together:

Musicology/3121/Planet Earth

LotusFlow3r/MPLSound/20Ten

Some 3121 goes well with Musicology indeed. I like 2 listen 2 Musicology in this configuration. It has much more 'oempf!'. Glasscutter and Silver Tonque are great songs and deserve a place on an album. Planet Earth sounds a bit more organic then 3121 and Musicology I think especially Planet Earth, Lion of Judah and Resolution.

20Ten sounds pretty on itself also I think. But it's a nice thought, I'll try 2 work something out if something sounds good together.

2004 Prince New Power Radio Act I Musicology (4 The True Funk Soldier) 43.05 min.
Side 1- 01. Musicology
Side 1- 02. Glass Cutter
Side 1- 03. Silver Tongue
Side 1- 04. Black Sweat
Side 1- 05. Cinnamon Girl
Side 2- 01. The United States Of Division
Side 2- 02. What Do U Want Me 2 Do
Side 2- 03. Magnificient
Side 2- 04. Dear Mr. Man
Side 2- 05. Reflection (Instrumental Intro)
Side 2- 06. Reflection (Live)
