I noticed that first thing. I posted it in the chat room and here to that it all seemed very familiar, that they took the best ideas from here and expanded on them like the chat room that goes 100mph. How many of us have complained about hitting return or refresh in the chat room here?

It's been long rumored that PP staff peruse the Org on a regular. I think they saw & tried to emulate what attracts us all to this place. They have some of the basics - the message board, the chat... But what keeps people here (IMO) is the amount of information you get (good or bad, lol), the timely fashion in which you get information, ease of use & most of all the people here. The latter can never be duplicated in a climate of gentle preaching, fear of "exile" & ultimately asskissing - but maybe that's what they want lol

Their site will continue to grow & get better hopefully (if they're dedicated & listen to concerns about navigation & content). It's cool now & can be GREAT, but it'll never be the Org...

To be honest, the Org isn't unique or special. Plenty of other sites have discussion forums, and chat rooms, and private messages, and profiles etc. They are the standard features for any online community.

What is good about the Org is:

1. It is free
2. We have a very large number of active members
3. It is fast and functional
4. Good amount of social / non-Prince related discussion which adds to the sense of community

And of course the fact that our site is heavily moderated... so you end up with less of the madness of the totally unmoderated sites, without being all mind-control and ear moonwraps.

Personally I think it is good that NPGMC are now providing services to their membership such as chat, forums etc. Really, this is something that Prince / NPGMC should have done a long time ago.

hmmm poor mans? I dunno...but it sure seems like they checked the org out a lot while designing their site...I like the site but I am well adapted here...the chat room here moves at a better pace IMO and I am afraid to be to open there as far as what I say and here I feel like I am tolerated.

People need to kill this noise of competition... each thing has its strength.

Prince.org has its years long history and relationships among orgers.

However, Housequake.com IMO has supplanted the ORG for news information... Right now, the .ORG has better discussions, but many of the forums here have gone to toilet

NPGMC's chat is more interesting to me right now cuz the PaisleyPark folk keep it more focused on Prince and club matters. I'll talk about other stuff elsewhere online and off.

You mean the latter can never be duplicated with the blatant censorship over at NPGMC, right? I think that is what "they" want...

I'd like to agree with you on this one but I don't think I can. Market forces come into play when service is involved. When people buy into a service they must feel they are receiving their money's worth. Competition drives better service. Prince is recognising that in order to beat the competition, which does exist, his music club must improve its service. Killing the noise of competition is not the way to go if you want to improve the music club.

I think I'd actually pay the $25 just to see Rd do half the shit he's done here, over at NPGMC. Can you imagine Rd then asking for a namecheck? lol
