I recall Morris Hayes saying in an interview that Prince recorded at least ten albums prior to his passing, one being Welcome 2 America. Maybe that will eventually be released. |

That's really ambiguous. Prior to his passing is literally his whole life. And he certainly recorded more than ten unreleased albums. Morris was around as long as Fink, if not longer. That time obviously saw many, many albums recorded. Prince always said he waited to put out albums until he had songs that sounded like each other so they were cohesive. So who knows exactly how many albums are there, but "at least 10" is a silly statement by Hayes.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

I believe that he may have been talking about albums that were released, as well as some that were shelved for whatever reason and he specified the time frame of 2010-2014 iirc. That may have included 20ten,W2A,protege albums and the last three Prince releases. |

Now, unless he just didn't record as much as he said, I'd say there's still plenty of unreleased material in that vault. |

We don't know nothing 4 real what is in the <vault or so few....we don't know what is the unreleased material in the hands of collectors at this stage....so we can't say that....a part of the unreleased stuff has surfaced thru the years 4 sure but we don't know what the Volume of Material Prince has written thru all these decades so ...what we know 4 sure is WE DON't KNOW!! Prince wrote and recorded new songs all the time so there could be plenty of songs from 78-94 we never heard of. Welcome 2 The Dawn |

I'm just askin' the question. Where is it written that Org people or whoever has to be updated on the status of his unreleased material? You wanna know where some of it is? It's in a set called Piano and a Microphone. Some of it is on Purple Rain deluxe. Dude's been dead for just under 3 years. Anyone thinking that vault material was going to be emptied and every album magically remastered with 5 disks of outtakes are sadly ignorant of how it all works.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

tend to believe most of the studio work is out... released or official. This is based on photos of the vault and known work orders. Books like The Vault (and princevalt) and the 1983 84 sessions book, as well as the photos from the vault, seem to confirm that much of it is out there.
But that is okay. There is 10 good albums worth of stuff. If it comes out and you already bought it... you should still buy it. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

I don't believe that.
.
The police photos only showed a portion of what the Vault was. The one at Paisley was like a snapshot of what they organized in 1996ish.
.
We know that the Estate shipped 8,000 cassettes - 1 of which was P&M83 - out to Iron Mountain. There was 0 cassettes shown in the Paisley vault. The master boxes that were found in other rooms had to have come from somewhere that wasn't the main vault since the main vault seemingly stops in 2004.
.
That's not to say there's thousands of original songs we haven't heard but we only really know what he did up until he went independent and even what we know from that time is incomplete. Not to mention all the different versions of the songs he did release. Original takes, re-recordings, xtended mixes, reloaded, remixes, etc. H.M Buff said that Prince took multiple runs at Welcome 2 The Dawn. All we knew about before that interview was the one released on The Truth and the electric version that was used as hold music.

First posthumous album is coming from Tidal this year. Only thing we know is it won't contain "any of Prince’s music catalogue that is subject to prior agreements with Warner Brothers Records."

If you look at all the leaked studio recordings, the vast majority of it comes from his Warner Bros years. What about his late 90s stuff, or Musicology, 3121, Art Official Age etc. Are there really no outtakes from his post millennium work? I don't think that even half of his stuff is out there yet. |

you are correct. And we know of some songs like "The Divine" and alternative versions like the full length "She Gave Her Angels" both are said to be epic... oh and the full version of "Come Back"
I admit I thinking more of the WB time as that is (from what I understand) what is in that vault. He said there are multiple vaults. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

There were unheard recordings from 2003-2012 in the vault. Someone who was cataloging what they could from the photos taken, put a list together and I saw a few titles that were unfamiliar to me. Some looked like they were likely outtakes from 3121 and Planet Earth from the dates they were recorded and others were said to be for the Welcome 2 America album. |
