Has anybody heard Raspberry Beret from 1982?

Anybody heard it? I’m really curious about the early version of this song.

Have only heard that rehearsal version from late 82/early 83. The basic verse and chrorus are there but not many lyrics, cool version though, breezy. It sounds like the type of thing War on Drugs are aiming for right now imho

Interesting that the arrangement/melody played by the strings on the album version is not part of this early take. Also interesting that the band hasn't completely learned the chords yet.
The wooh is on the one!

"E!"
I wonder were they learning it on the fly right there.

Was there no limit to this man’s genius and ability???
Floppy drives should be added to his list of instruments.

Floppy drives covers have been around for quite some time.
Constantly funny.

The undisputed king of the category is this dude.

I've always been curious what a more Purple Rain-ed version of Raspberry Beret might have sounded like, ditto for the 83-84 versions of She's Always in My Hair.

A certain kind of mellow.

Very, very similar to the released one. The basic tracks are there, the lead vocal sounds final,
the released version seems to "just" have overdubs added, nothing more.
But hardcore fans will have to confirm that.

Ah, gotcha. It's probably one of the more Purple Rain oriented 1985 tracks.

A certain kind of mellow.

I'm still astounded by the fact "Venus de Milo" is dated 1982.
"Strange Relationship" as well. Songs just poured out of him.
