I went to a fair few (I think about 15). Happy times! To be honest I can't remember any particular one that stood out from the rest for me.

I was there too! The second day we were there at like at 9 in the moring...can't imagine myself now waiting for a concert for 12 hours LOL. But we were very close to the stage. Still remember this guy shouting "look at that walk!" as Prince was running by. The first night we were pretty far away from the stage, couldnt see much because of all the rain.

We were talking about the Nude tour on another thread and how when Prince performed NC2U - at the end of the song he laid on a huge red heart as it drifted back until he was laying flat. Do you remember this at the Rotterdam show? Wondering if he did that from the beginning or added it later on.

I read the tour was a flop in Italy, and he cancelled the second show booked in Italy... It said only 13,000 tickets were sold out of 35,000.

Other big acts like Madonna and The Rolling Stones had the same problem. Italians preferred their own artists like Zucchero or Eros Ramazzotti.

Is it known why Prince chose to do a greatest hits tour, his first ever, instead of a Batman/GB tour? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Is that what it was? Or rather after 12 albums he happened to have a lot of hits? What?

I look at that tour as sort of a "end of an era" show, with him playing some of his greatest hits of the decade and mixing other songs in too. Starting with the Parade tour up until the mid 90's he always mixed old and new songs in the shows.

Tes, this started with the Parade tour. SOTT also focused on Europe. He was not happy with the US fans/turnout at that time.

And Batdance, Scandalous, and The Question Of U were in. What?

I think he did that even prior to the Parade tour. The PR tour included songs from 1999 Controversy Dirty Mind/Prince, but definately not like a 'Hits show'. But of course 1999 featured more songs from previews albums and Dirty Mind featured songs from Prince & For You.
Purple Rain tour: When You Were Mine, Head, With You, I Feel For You, I Wanna Be Your Lover Still Waiting, were mixed in more into the 85 leg of the tour, which of course began featuring ATWIAD song previews

Yes, true - he was always mixing old, current, and new songs during shows. For Parade he even went all the way back to songs from '79.

Yep, With You and I Wanna Be Your Lover are from the Prince album, I Feel For You Still Waiting from For You
I love Soft & Wet on the Parade tour

Ain't nothing going on but the rent He did include three Batman songs.the Batman phenomenon surrounding the movie was such a massive hype that caught fire but burned out rather quickly that I think it would have been a mistake to have a Batman tour. The flame was already dying when Party Man was released and people were surprised it didn't go Top 10.

I really wish that SNL band did shows before morphing into the Nude tour band.

The tour took place more than half a year after Batman was released and before GB came out. There's not much sense in promoting an album that's already past its peak while you're planning a new one. So playing the hits was the best way to draw the big crowds.
