Vocals on live versions of Purple Rain

Guys have you noticed that somewhere around late 90s Prince

was always singing the word sorrow in a

affected kind of way.

every single peformance.

I didnt like that change ,the way

he was singing

it before was much more with the vibe of the song.

what do you think why he changed it?

Even on versions of the song where he wanted to sing like on

the original recording the affected

sorrow was still there

I totally get what you mean, I find it really annoying too. It's kind of over dramatic and theatrical, and I agree it doesn't fit with the rest of the song.

And once you hear it...it never goes away!

He did it a lot in the 2010s as well.

he did it in every single performance of Purple Rain

starting with the late 90s.

i dare anybody to find version of the song where he did

it like original after late 90s

Maybe because in the original song, "sorrow " sounds more like "morrow".

r u joking? he sang opening like the original in the 80s up until late 90s
