I am not even sure what make of them. He called the tax (both local and federal) collectors 'bankers'...then sings "Freedom ain't free"? So, we need to pay taxes? "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

20Ten sounds like a commercial break. The whole thing sounded so thin and mild that it's hard to resonate with on any level. Walk In Sand sounds like an ad for some male encancement drug and Everybody Loves Me sounds like a special ed anthem. Some of P's weakest lyrics ever throughout. Prince whines about having to pay taxes, sighs about how things were so much better in his day and waxes New Age bullshit. Yawn.

I love sticky like glue. The album as a whole just has a vibe of bland John Tesh, Richard Marx style mixed through the lens of Prince. One of my least favorite albums from Prince. The whole packaging via religious cult graphics was a turn off for me as well.

Good record, not his best but definitely not his worst!

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Why do I keep reading he gave it away for free? I'm sure he got paid for his work on this album? [Edited 1/2/19 14:06pm]

There was going to be a Deluxe Version that was going to be physically released in the US. Someone made a fan-made mix:
2oTen Deluxe:
Cause & Effect Laydown (Extended) Rich Friends Future Soul Song Beginning Endlessly Sticky Like Glue Act of God Walk In Sand Sea Of Everything Lavaux Hot Summer
Although I think the original album flows REALLLLLLY well, the way he edited this mix is really nice. [Edited 1/2/19 16:46pm] I Love U, But I Don't Trust U Anymore...

Meh... Reevaluating 20TEN, The Slaughterhouse, etc...
Nothing to reevaluate... Uninspiring albums, bland... 20TEN had two GREAT songs, Sticky Like Glue, Future Soul Song...

I like that mix. I was hoping Prince would release 20Ten Deluxe with all the talk about it then.

"Sticky Like Glue" is one of P's greatest songs from ANY era.. "Walk In Sand" has great personal sentimental value...when my teenage son was a little toddler, 'Walk In Sand' and "Private Joy" were his very first favorite songs...the first 2 songs that i remember him saying, "Daddy please play Private Joy" or "Daddy please play "Walk In The Sand"(as he called it)...good times

Underatted and dissed by Prince himself. He finally got out the old synths made 3 fantastics tracks (Lavaux, Sticky and one of his last truly great songs, Future Soul Song).
The rest is pure filler but some of it is fun (Compassion, Laydown, Everybody Loves Me). So in all a great 6 track EP.

I only skip Compassion & Everybody Loves Me, love the rest of it. Walk In Sand is fucking beautiful!!! & Sea of Everything is divine, they’re my faves on the album. I wish I’d heard it when it dropped, but I’d fallen off the chase (I’m in the US).

I could see that being used in a tampon or panty liner advert. Future Soul Song is the only good (not great) song on it.

He's commenting on how the banking system favors the rich and affluent and preys on the poor and middle class. "the Money Changers" and all that.

yeah, the rapping on Sticky Like Glue is horrible, but not enough to ruin it...just like Love 2 The 9s

I don't break it out much and the whole thing feels kind of cobbled together. I pulled the 4 or 5 songs off it and spliced them together with some other stuff.
