Amazing song...Definately Top 20. Loved the song even more because of the memory of my 8th Grade girlfriend’s mother explaining the “S&M” overtones in the lyrics...went right over my head...lol.

Why DID I love Prince so much?
He was dependable. His output was constant - year after year after year. I could depend on him to release some music almost every year. It wasn't a new album of music then a wait of 5 years for a new collection of songs. He was like the Stephen King of Pop. And while I still love his music now any new music is in the control of record executives and estate lawyers and family members. Now that dependability is a thing of the past. And I miss that. I miss that security. I started listening to Prince when 1999 was released and my love for his music never waned, never wavered. We had a long run together. But now that dependability is gone. So my love has changed into something wrapped in nostalgia.

I stand corrected.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

If this was the only song of Prince's that I'd ever heard, I would not love him. I have tried, but I really don't see what people see in this track. Easily the worst on 1999 for me, I just don't get it.

RIP sad

It's too bad he wasn't like the James Patterson of Pop since that guy has a new book out every two weeks it seems.... wink

I honestly can NOT put it into words. It is an emotional thing for me that I don't intend to try to explain.

And I don't care for Something In The Water (Does not Compute) or All The Critics, but love Automatic. SITW is great in a live setting though or the Orange Bowl rehearsal 1985.

As a long time fan from the start, there were times I loved him like crazy, but other times not so much.

My top three are The Beatles, Bowie and Prince. I see a picture of Prince pop up online or in a magazine, and it feels like my heart skips a beat. I don't think this will ever change for me.
