it will be interesting to see what the critics have to say about the first post 1996 album
to be released from the vault.

i wonder if they will fall over themselves to heap praise upon it or if they will simply
ignore it completely, like they have done with so many of his post warner releases,
except for a few.

starting with Rolling Stone, who could of gave a shit about Prince until after he died... Now they kiss his ass any chance they get

I'd hardly call it "garbage". Just more in line with a supplemental release for a larger box set or something.

It's an intimate look at his song writing process that many of us have clamored for for years and gives us a bit of a rare window to peek though but there's nothing jaw dropping about it.

Having said that, there's no way it's the top twenty of anything (not even Prince's OWN albums) and Newsweek wouldn't have given it a second glance had Prince not passed away. Let's be honest. It's fashionable now to be a Prince fan and gush about how much you loved him the whole time but I doubt Newsweek reviewed anything at all of his for the last 20 years.

Let me rephrase... Garbarge is a harsh word after reading it again. My apologies.

Given the alleged thousands of songs (which pretty much is confirmed) you mean to tell me this is the BEST collection of songs they could come up with? A bootleg that has been circulating on the internet for years? I like the songs, but would of rathered something different other that what has already been heard.

Let's be honest, If anyone was to ask you, what do you want to see released from the vault, my guess would be it wouldn't be this set.

That is fair, as I just mentioned in another post, given the thousands of songs in the vault. This is the best the estate could come up with? My apologies .

You are 100% correct Newsweek or even Rolling Stone could of given a shit about Prince when he was alive,

I admit The Estate could have picked something better. As fans we know it's a LOT better in The Vault. But I LOVE the concept they came up with. With Prince(r.i.p.) leaving this earth in the middle of his last Piano & Microphone tour. It was really quite fitting that they captured for the public his process of writing on the piano in the privacy of his home. Then naming it "Piano & Microphone 1983". Plus the packaging was just simply BEAUTIFUL & TASTEFUL. It showed the public a different side of Prince's(R.I.P.)talent. The reviews was great. Also the sales not bad. Overall I think it ended up being a good idea afterall.

I forgive U. At least U have the decency to apologize. Which says more about U than others here.

Thank you, again I spoke before I thought. It really was packaged nicely and could of seen it in the PR deluxe set. I have been listening allot to P&M2016 and heard a version of "Love, thy will be done" that is so breathtaking... Have you heard it. Prince sounded so damn good.

It was WAY over a year before I could listen to any of Prince's(r.i.p.) P&M shows. It was just too painful for me. My favorite is "Girl" live he took it to another level as usual. Prince's(r.i.p.) last ATL performance was just AMAZING. No other artist can go out any better than that. He was still in top form.

I love his performances of Love Thy Will Be Done for the P&M shows as well. I wish they'd officially release the Atlanta show like he was reportedly planning to do.

Warning my opinion is not "positive" towards this recording, this.. it's definately NOT among "the best in 2018"..

Calling this release "Garbage" is yes hard, but.. I agree.. sort of.. : sad sad sad

I did buy it on Limited CD/ Vinyl.. but I can't listen to this without "cringe", it's definately very bad..

I have owned it for decades via Sabotage " Purple Rush Vol 2 ", and there are so many other recording on it on this set fra SAB, hugely better than this.. sad sad

I have still trouble trying to get to the end, I just can't enjoy it.. damn.

I love P music but I prefer his.. pop-rock-funk-music.. smile

I do love when P is playing his piano, but this is an unfinished, unfocused rehearsal..

Mary Don't U Weep?? Oh no, not good, imho.. very bad actually..

I am not trying to put down Prince's music at all, just speaking an honest opinion about THIS "single" release,

Those who said it's a very bad choise from The Vault, unfortunately - I agree.

Better luck choosing a recording next time, whoever is in charge.. I hope we will get something in 2019- ? Better be more interesting.. hopefully..

Newsweek they don't have a clue imho.... eek

^ Owned this for decades..?

well I remember I had a cd also, "Intimate moments".. with a "pink color" cover picture.. maybe from the late 80s? Or, from the 90's?

Actually for a very long time, I thought this recording was "not Prince", I thought it was "a fake"..

I'm more impressed by the packaging. I think they did a great job with it.

I think with today's technology, they could have cleaned up that audio at least to remove the tape hiss.

I don't regret buying it though. It's a nice little break now and then.

I was SO IMPRESSED with the packaging!. It made me SO proud I was in tears opening it. They represented Prince(r.i.p.) VERY well & respected his legacy with this release. It was simply breathtakingly beautiful.

Go on. Say it. Say "Masterpiece." We know you want to.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
