I can't see what the video is, but she sang Private Joy and Delirious at the Revolution First Avenue shows in Sep 2016.
It's a great capture of Kimbra performing Prince's Call My Name at the end of her Cedar Cultural Center show in Minneapolis (on February 5th last year).
'After participating in the Prince Tribute concert and joining The Revolution more recently at First Avenue, there was probably no way she couldn’t honor Prince at this show, choosing to play a just-rehearsed version of 2004’s ‘Call My Name’ (“the first Prince record I ever heard was Musicology” she said in her song intro {...yes, I feel old) alongside Arc Iris, to end the show solemnly and dignified.'
Great performance. Also good to see someone covering a more recent track.
She's young. She's stated in at least one interview that Musicology is the album that introduced her to Prince. She had to work her way backwards through the "classics" but she came up on the newer stuff.
SHe is doing an excellent job, but boy did our man have the best voice ever in the world! So hard trying to walk in his footsteps.
If I could learn one thing about Prince, it would be how he developed his voice. I know that some of it is natural, but I feel that other aspects of his voice were definitely learned and something he truly worked hard to master. I think as far as his master of musical instruments, his voice was his strongest asset by far.
