His name was Prince and he was funky!
Prince might be the only artist I know that wrote/co wrote every single song he ever recorded (besides covers) He played nearly every instrument under the sun, he changed his name to a symbol to protest against one of the biggest record labels in the world, he was a guitar god, a brilliant Pianist, he made 39 amazing solo albums + records with other people, I also believe he is one of the most bootlegged artist ever.
And all in all, he's the only person to get away with wearing yellow bottomless pants!

Back in the day (late 70's early 80's) the way he dressed (sexy), the songs he sang (sex), the heels he wore (sexy), the makeup he put on (sexy). This was at a time when things like this involving men wasn't cool, but he made it cool. Prince is one of the reasons we now have ratings on records.

because he is a summation of all artists he has grown up on....some of the best black and white artists

For me, he sums it up in the video for The Question Of U. Sultry singing, stellar piano playing, weightless transition when walking from his seat to the top of the piano, guitar God moment, sexy guitar pick throw to a female in the audience, dissappears, comes back dancing like a ballerina and as good as anyone. Simply the most complete artist ever.

I think his serious emotional issues drove him to accomplish more than he might have had be been a stable human being.

For me it was his creativity, versatility and sheer talent. I love Stevie Wonder and many other artists as well but Prince's music made me feel like no other. Maybe it was the emotion he put into his music I don't know.

Prince did not want to be seen like other artists. He was a class all by himself.

I don't know many artists - other than Stevie Wonder - who have expressed emotions through their music like Prince did. Life Matters

Incredible work ethic Incredibly multifaceted Jack of all trades A gentleman (especially the older him) Addressed political and rights issues, including advocacy Absolutely revered (as a musician) by pretty much everyone that knew of him (except Bart)

He was great at all aspects of making music. Usually, when a person tries to be well rounded, he or she has a clear area of weakness or never excels or specializes in anything (stretches himself/herself too thin). When it came to creating music, he could do it all. He had a fantastic voice, he was an excellent lyricist (although uneven as some songs were lyrically better than others), he was an outstanding composer, and a masterful instrumentalist. He played guitar (electric and acoustic) at an otherworldly level, was an outstanding pianist, and could play percussion at a very high level. He could dance his tooshie off. He produced. He was the ultimate jack-of-all-trades. He certainly had weaknesses in other areas of his life, notably his handling of some business affairs and his love life. But as a musician, he did everything well. [Edited 12/12/18 20:32pm] Live 4 Love ~ Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above

I agree with just about everything that was said about him. The thing was, he had so much Godgiven talent bundled with a fearlessness to stretch and do just about whatever he could imagine. You roll all that with a "I don't do this to win approval" attitude, and you get WONDERFUL. Good morning children...take a look out your window, the world is falling...

+1 his air of mystery, most of his albums are bops straight through; not many artists can claim that. Intriguing style of fashion & his way with the ladies, lol.

Personally: What made him so special is that he's from MN, I'm from MN ❤ In general: "Written, arranged, composed, produced, performed by Prince" He was music, and music was him. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

His looks. I know lots of boys who look good, know music, and God. Prince is the finest to me by a landslide. What?
