Since we're bored as hell: what would be your favorite "what if" scenarios? Just imagine you can travel to a parallel dimension where something happened differently in Prince's career or life. Not necessarily that you think it would have been better if things had gone that way. Just that you're curious as hell to know what would have happened after that different event. I'm sure we've all wondered that about the events in our own lives: let's wonder about P's. . My favorites would be: . - What if Prince had released the 3 LP Crystal Ball in 1987 instead of SOTT? How would it have been received? How would it have altered Prince's career, at least in the next few years if not on the long run? . - What if Prince's child had been born healthy, then had lived and grown normally? How would it have affected Prince as a person and, more importantly, as an artist? . - What if Prince and WB's relationship hadn't soured in 93 and he'd remained a WB artist throughout his career, releasing about an album a year as before despite the inevitable drop in sales? Would the music and discography have been very different? How long would Paisley Park Records have lasted and what would have become of the label on the long run? . - What if Prince had more or less renounced superstardom and gone on releasing more and more jazzy/instrumental/experimental records after the 2001-2003 "jazz" era instead of getting into a "neoclassical" phase with Musicology and so on, going full indie with more stuff in the vein of The Undertaker, Kamasutra, The Truth, The War, ONA, Xpectation, C-Note or N.E.W.S.? What would the music have been like? How would it have altered the world's perception of him? . And, of course, the one I'm sure we all share: - What if Prince had lived another 30 years? What music would he have recorded and released in those 30 years? . And yeah, I know, according to Tyka it was orange . Two words: "Orange Rain," orange rain.

Just imagine: Orange Rain, the movie. Orange Rain, the album. Prince wearing an orange jacket on the cover of Controversy. The 1999 cover all in shades of orange. The outtake Orange Music. The Orange Medley single released in 1995. And let's not forget the Orange And Gold sports anthem in 2010 A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

No mention of this on Pvault http://princevault.com/in...Children_2 But that story rings a bell, though. You remember the source? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

If you know what I'm singing about up here, c'mon, raise your hand! They already did that in Kenan And Kel. Kel had a daydream about drinking orange rain, to the tune of Singing in the Rain. You might wonder why he did that and the answer is simple. Kel loves orange soda. "Is it true?", you might ask. And Kel would respond "I do, I do I do-oo"

At the risk of derailing "Orange Rain," I'm going to go with...
What if Prince & The Revolution reunited in the year 1999, released the Roadhouse Garden album and toured to promote it?

[color=blue] my favourite what if would be the Prince 90th birthday gala, I would have loved to hear the music he could have made when he was older[\color]

I think I would have prefered Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic 1989/90 instead Graffiti Bridge
what if that happened and Sheila E decided to do a 4th album(the rest of the Lovesexy band stayed on 1 more year)

What if Prince had released the song What If as a single and it went to the top of the religious music charts? [Edited 11/23/18 14:16pm]

Sorry, but "what if" is pointless to me, because I know that the man is gone, and no "what if" or anything else will change the past or bring him back.

What if his family hadn’t moved North during the Great Migration. What if he developed musically in Louisiana and what the sound would have been. More Jazz??? What if he had been given the chance to play b-ball more.

I love all the responses thus far. Very good "what if" questions. I hate that the first things I wondered were: What if Andrew's flight had been a few hours earlier? What if his associates had made the call a day earlier? What if they had made arrangements for someone to stay on the premises with him that night until help arrived? Sorry for going there. Like I said the other responses were a lot more fun to ponder. Thank you It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Might be wrong but I think Databank was more interested in career rather than life defining things. So I will add some...
What if a Prince had not disbanded The Revolution in 1986? What if Prince and the Revolution had released Dream Factory (if that ever REALLY existed as a defined project in Prince's mind) in 1987 instead of SOTT? What if we ignore those and revert to the real 1987 and Prince had toured the USA behind SOTT? What if Prince had released the Black Album in late 87 instead of pulling it? What if Prince had never got involved in Batman and released Rave Unto The Joy Fantasic in 1989? The real biggie for me though is what if Prince and Mayte's son hadn't died? I really think being a father and (longer term) husband would have redefined his song writing. [Edited 11/25/18 5:47am] 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.
