So is Prince's memoir coming out or nah?

Remember the noise being made earlier this year by his publisher that despite it being unfinished, they were going to release the book later this year (which would be now).
I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said.

Well, if you are looking for a memoir from 50 handwritten pages it will be fluffed by a ghostwriter... confused You are better off reading the biographies that already exist...

So, why don't you tell us something about it.. Is it worth the read for only 50 pages probably padded with other stuff?

It certainly will be released!

It is very likely it will be released one page per year - double line spaced, 20 point font.

A $100 annual subscription will be required.

It will be available as; standard unbound, paperback, hardback, deluxe, super deluxe, with foil, without foil, special edition with an underlined heading, exclusive Amazon version signed by the person who packs your order....

....but you have to also buy a cheap and nasty $200 tshirt.

Sadly this is the sign of the times.

With less than a hundred pages, it would be cool to mix in band members memoirs as well, under the form of annotations.
But maybe the memoir isn't chronological at all in the state it is. Or maybe it is, but who knows how far it goes.
I feel like an 8 ball. Damn, Christopher!

And it's such a dumb move (that said, some prices are OK, but the overall art direction is still meh to me). I'm currently rewatching Steve Jobs keynotes from the 00's in some motivation/procrastination marathon of some kind (although the best this im.perfect man would ever say about inventing is summed in under 2 minutes), and I wonder: wouldn't it be better to remove Prince from all platforms, and build a single, closed, Estate owned, streaming platform (Amazon and Google provide high-end servers services based on consumption, all you need is some devs) also used for digital and physical distribution ?

"Yeah, but then we lose a lot of potential audience". Since the audience only cares for more or less than a dozen hits, and forever will, leave only the hits (audio and video) on the big actors as trojan horses. All the rest, albums and movies included, should be available only through the official Estate platform. All the difference in income (the fees paid to the big streaming actors are dramatically lowered) can be invested into clever, high-level (Prince is not your average Camry) all-year-long marketing campaigns into promoting the official platform. The Estate has to stop redirecting (and losing) its true audience to YT (the recent media coverages of "Mary" all had YT embeds). They're the true winners here.

Then, it's "just" a matter of showing and telling the benefits of using the official platform: 24-bit audio, 720/1080p videos (limit the ones on YT to 480p, again, as trojan horses) exclusive concerts, exclusive goodies, and all the usual shannigans hire an MBA for crissake).

There could be a freemium by default for every opt-in. A free song every month (a demo, a rehearsal, who cares as long as it's musically relevant). After all, you get somebody's e-mail (and other fields the opt-in form has), and that's worth dollars, as all marketing educated people wil agree, especially when you're not a huge generalist internet platform or some social network: you get a (cynical mode activated) very precise marketing target with an opt-in form, and it's someone that actually showed interest (because s.he opted in, doh). And then you don't go spend your money and time with complicated internet tracking analytics to figure out if this marketplace or this social networks brings newcomers: you're the only door in. Prince was generous with his art, and there's enough in the vault to give away a song every month for centuries. It would educate newcomers: Prince's work is too vast to be presented the usual way, it needs context (the intro on the NC2U video) every time. There are too many periods to sum things up in an easy way. Even the PP museum can't do it. It just scratches the surface.

The more I think about it, the more I think the Estate should follow the Apple strategy in the early 00's. Prince's music is exclusive. It's racy. It's cleverly made. It sparks mania. It's not for everyone. So stop treating it as yet another mass consumption product. What may seem at first a doomed isolationist business model might very well turn into more, much more buckos in the long run. But most of all it would bring a better, more carefully studied, professionally art directed approach to Prince's legacy.

You get a hardback when you buy the Ltd Deluxe edition of Swell Tree Lens 3 LP set, too. It's $177, but worth it for the "Hey Hannigan" remixes by Kirky J., Tony M., and the rare Gayle Chapman-vocal version.

Seriously? It's a shocking big deal to ask for or to have relevant Prince info on the Prince message board?

1. There are no threads about it.If there was information on such a sought after item release, it would be prominent.

2. You seemed to be asking if some comments were true. The comments affirmative to a soon to be release, a pre copy, an extended extra edition with song etc are all obviously bs joking that a 'really..really?' response was kind of warranted. Youre smarter than that to believe such silliness/joking as being possible.

3. No, but really, it will be released in 2 weeks.

I get the silliness, 17+ years org experience, but usually folks get all butt hurt when a certain person does it to them the irony is glaring.
