Thinking about this some more, one thing that stands out to me is how little he shared his live material, especially some of the legendary aftershows. For an artist with such a well known talent for live shows, the official ones we got were fairly substandered.

To his defense and according to Alan Leeds, Prince wasn't allowed to release any recording, studio or live, from the WB years, without an arrangement with WB. He obviously tried to bypass any such arrangement from 1998 to 2001, and though it's unverified, it's likely WB sent him a nice C&D in late 2001. Now some would say if he hadn't been so stubborn and if he'd worked with WB before 2014... A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Fot crying out loud, don't be so gullible... Do you believe any nonsense you read on the internet? Of course it's real, they're pulling your leg. Well I wasn’t spending my day trying to find out if it was true or not. I’ll admit I’m not aware of the reason to pull my leg about the JB thing Unless of course it is some joke of long ago I’m not aware of. It is funny real Or fake that was what I thought was the point in comparing it to his embarrassing gangster Bikini.

Well, checking whether it was real online would literally have been a matter of seconds, a whole minute at most. But just by watching it you should have known, there's no way this is CGI, even if this day and age (unless you have a Disney budget maybe). I'm not sure if the fake joke is old but I'm pretty sure I've seen iot before. Sorry if I was blunt, but I see people believing the craziest things on social networks every day and it drives me crazy. I always check things out the minute I suspect something might be fake (or, in that case, real, since the fake news was that it was a fake news ) A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Personnally, I think his biggest mistake that influenced thé next to Come, Was to release another album while Purple Rain Was out since only 9 months and still on thé top 10 in thé Usa, while un Europe It Was only becoming Big in early 1985... But sadly, européan audience Didn t have Time to catch the train. . PR deserved a worldwide tour, the releases of Beautiful Ones, Darling Nikki... . Prince would have been unavoidable and PR would have sold more than 30 millions...Thé next album released in 1986 would have combined thé best tracks from AWITD and Parade (two forgotten albums by thé critics nowadays and two terrible catalogue sellerS, let s talk frankly) and would have sold a huge amount and would have been praised today... . So while It a a gift to have so many albums as a hardcore fan, It s objectively a curse for his legacy and what has became his carreer After PR, and thé way he IS perceived now

that was intentional if it was a "mistake" prince clearly did not like that level of fame with all the accomanying bedlam, there was a quote from some interview, forget where it came from but he said one night when he was changing clothes his guitar tech accidentally busted him with the guitar and he was bleeding, he said that was when he decided it was enough and he stopped the tour after the us was completed, said he was "looking for the ladder" and would never tour again. surely, that was like the boxers who retire after a tough fight and then change their minds because he became one of the leading live acts of his time. Ironically, some hard core musicians said he didn't have it live in those peak years.

Anyone who says anything other than "name change" is delusional. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

he was conflicted about the money in those years, by the 00's he seemed to do nothing but talk about money though in a strange about face. In the early years he intentionally screwed himself over for the sake of his art. Not only the PR tour but the next couple albums where he was consciously trying to shake up his fan base and see who would remain. You gotta admire the balls on the guy going back to Dirty Mind, it's that same heart that made him such an artist.

it's called logic, when a guy says he doesn't care about money and then lives an expensive ass life with expensive tastes and fluctuates between throwing money away and doing things to compromise and make more it's not talking out of ones ass. However, the quotes are out there regarding money, it's not my job to search those all out to make you happy.

I never thought it fake or really even gave it much Thought other than the video itself is funny. So when others were chimming in about its authenticity. I was surprised cause I had never heard that before. Why is it funny to call it fake? It is more funny to watch and laugh than it is funny to call it fake. But I love to laugh so if you know the fake joke please Catch me up. Don’t worry I don’t believe everything I read or see, but I may laugh about a lot real or fake.

Commercially, it was for sure no miscalculation. The change has given him an huge boost. Not only did the world never stop talking about this and the weirdness behind it. (still to date) The first song released afte the change, gave him his biggest commercial hit after Purple Rain (the only other song for instance in Netherlands to go to number 1 spot) 'The most beautiful girl in the world'
Which (as with my statement about 'fallinlove2nite') i do not consider his best, but commercially....
huge. I've take the thread question as a commercial miscalculation.
Not artistically or personally, then the answers would have been very different

eugenius said: To me, P's biggest miscalculation was when he decided to take ecstasy with Ingrid Chavez on December 1, 1987. . Instead, he put out the safe and unfunky Lovesexy and while "Alphabet St." and "When 2 R in Love" were nice, the album signified Prince's decline as an unpredictable musician. . There were a few shining moments in Diamonds and Pearls, but everything embarassing happened after December 1, 1987. Where do I begin? . 1. He allowed the Game Boyz to happen which gave Kirky J an outlet to rap. 2. Everything that had to do with Graffiti Bridge (although "Theives in the Temple" was a jam). 3. He let Larry Graham convert him to JW which took him to the point of no return. 4. He blew his chance at building the Paisley Park label into a label that could've rivaled Motown. 5. He arried superfan Manuela Testolini. 6. He lost Alan Leeds and never bothered finding a suitable replacement. 7. He sued Uptown. . These are just a few major errors after he thought God spoke to him the night he took that hit of X.
That wasn’t Prince. Google William Rector. [Edited 11/21/18 6:00am]
