Rehearsal jams - is there any way to make these gems commercially viable? so I've been enjoying the last few Revolution Jams to the max...sound board quality, Prince & the Revolution at their funkiest & creative best etc. These are for hard core & thanks god for bootleggers! Does anyone here think there is any way of aming these commercially available?..or should we just enjoy it as our little secret! Personally I guess you could do a 'best of' as a series for download only?....but how & why would you even think editing the Lonnnnng version of soulphyscadelicide?! [Edited 10/18/18 6:12am]

A new incarnation of the NPG Music Club would be the best platform to place material generally appealing to the hardcore. The same applies to alternate versions and differing album configurations. I'm sure there are also some later unreleased albums and experimental projects where hardcore fans would be the primary audience.

They could virtually release or stream all those rehearsals/soundchecks, as such and untouched, as long as enough of us buy 'em to cover the server's cost, digitalizing process and the staff to handle it. It's thousands and thousands of hours of tape from 1979 to 2016, though, so admitedly it'd take decades to release it all. And one can also question the point of releasing 750 different similar versions of the same setlist or song. On the other hand think of it as a huge archive for music historians to dig it. But as long as we're there to buy 'em or subscribe releasing, say, one a week is feasable. The hardest part would in fact be to listen to them, and select what to release. Same with the live shows, etc. The question is how many of us really want it? Prince fans are known for not liking Prince's music, and I guess the minute the Estate would do it the Org would be flooded with threads complaining that such rehearsal is boring, that such other is lame, that yet another has too much tape hiss, and that it would have been better off to leave it all to rot in the vault. So maybe we can begin by changing our attitude a bit, and show more respect for the music? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

That, too. I would love to have all those "best of" shows for the sake of having them all, but to be honest I wouldn't listen to them more than once each. On the other hand if you give me all the shows from any other, non best of, tour, I won't listen to them more than once either. We have IDK how many PR Tour SBD's and I'm pretty sure I won't ever listen to most of them again. But I'd still like to have it all A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I think it's about expectations. If they were going to release something like this, they would have to know it would have niche interest. As long as they produce something with that in mind, there's no reason it can't be made. It just depends if there's interest on THEIR side to do that, to put the effort in on something like that, rather than 'Purple Rain Sessions vol.2' or whatever, you know.

I am really enjoying these rehearsals a lot and am just so pathetically grateful to whoever made these available now, and who kept these tapes! Thank you!! It would be great if the whole vault was available to download or stream, that is a subscription service that would surely get my money!

Our little secret? These have been available, commercially, for years. Only since P's death have I been seing discontinued sales at certain vendor sites. Regarding viability, push what you can, but ultimately, the purchasing public will decide. I think they should be sold as is, in both physical and digital form. Maybe release them with live video of a show or rehearsal. Don't cheapen them by not giving them a proper release, throwing minimal marketing towards the project.

The rehearsals are the things that I return to most often, especially since his death - more than the albums in fact.
