I will play. Yes I luv this song. It took me a minute back in the day to get into it. But it is unique, chaotic and funky.

He certainly tried to kill jazz throughout his career. Any time he "played" it, in fact.

When I was young I thought that line was:

It's time for Chas 'n Di!

It's one of those songs that's like an earworm. It gets stuck in my head for awhile every time I hear it. But in a good way.
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

I thought of this yesterday. I was 14 and this album defined me. Childish, but true.

If it was an 80's movie, I would have been the "Prince" kid as the token minority.

This was also the sign off for my HS yearbook. Piss off you "polaroids" !

my favourite live version is still the first time he played it at First Avenue, that guitar reminds me of Adrian Belew or Robert Fripp, very new wave sounds smile

I've always found it fascinating that the Purple Rain Tour kicked off on the 4th day of November.

Not sure if Prince had planned things that far out or not.

If not, it's still a heck of a coincidence.

Great tune!! I absolutely love the 2009 live version at the Montreux Jazz Festival. That one is a regular party song at our house!

My appreciation for the song got revived when I heard this
