Do you stream Prince's music? Or you only listen to your cassettes, vinyls and cd's?

I stream his albums most of the time. It´s just very convenient (I listen through a Sonos-Home System) and most of the stuff is streamable anyway now (fortunately). See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

Neither. I ripped all my CD's long ago. I maintain a huge digital collection. It's the perfect solution for me: it all fits in a small hard drive but it's my collection and I don't need the internet to access it. Why would I pay to listen to something I already own? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I don't get streaming at all. I don't like being at the mercy of the streaming company. Once they take something down I can't hear it anymore. I need to own the music I listen to, be it vinyl, CD or digital. When all the streaming people are complaing about what they took down, I go into my Prince folder on my harddrive and listen to whatever I want. Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

I buy the CD or the high quality file from Bandcamp and then I use the streaming service to listen. To me this maximizes the support of the artist, most artists are made or broken these days by how many streams they have so the streams are important!

In order of magnitude Prince is the most prolific artist in modern day history. For fans with large private collections listening to it all the old fashioned way becomes very difficult.
Personally I have not signed up to any streaming services as they don’t come close to the collection I currently have. Instead I have digitised and created my own private streaming service. Being able to stream stuff no matter where you are is very liberating. I can instantly search for any song or album, and filter by year/decade, create my own custom playlists and group CD’s based on tours and Prince eras, something you cannot achieve with physical copies. But the real killer is I can access ALL of it on my iphone or computer no matter where I am. You can even download music for offline listening if you have limited connection or data plan. Like it or not streaming has significant benefits…and being able to view and browse everything all in one place and stepping back you get a sense of awe and truely comprehend the extent of Prince’s work over his lifetime…it’s simply mindblowing! Yes, as well as the physical stuff. I don't live in the stone age and streaming is how a lot of new music is intended to be listened to, I do like new music as well as P. If the internet breaks down i'm covered. [Edited 10/15/18 10:20am]

I do whatever's convenient for me at the time. I have streaming services and hardcopies. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

I own everything on cd, vinyl or digital for collecting purposes. Anyways. I also stream his music because it's easy and you can make playlists. It looks like some people here are clueless about streaming services. If you use Spotify Premium you CAN download everythinh you want and listen off line. You don't need connection.

Lately I've been picking one or two CDs for the car to really savor. When you have everything at your fingertips, sometimes you lose the magic. Hearing "Joy In Repetition" followed by "Jughead" is just... oh lawd.

I stream when I'm either at school or lazy tbh, but I'll listen to the vinyls and CDs otherwise. The speaker quality is a lot better on physical audio devices than on my laptop, and I'm a real sucker for physical copies of albums. I only get to listen to the vinyls at certain times because the record player is in the living room, and my family makes so much noise lol, but the CDs i'll usually listen to in my room where I can have them at a loud-ish volume yet not loud enough to bother the other people in the house too much.
There are some songs I have to stream (because let's face it I'm broke and the stores here don't carry much that isn't local) but if I can listen to a song through a physical copy of a CD or especially vinyl, i prefer to listen that way. ~everything is a prince reference~

CD's in the car, streaming at home.

I use streaming for more than Prince music though. I've discovered artist I like that I've never even heard of using streaming. There's no way I own that many hardcopies of the stuff I listen to on streaming. Especially things out of print. It has it's uses. And I still prefer having my favorites in my own hands too. I Own everything officially released so I'll listen either through my CD player or turntable and amp. When in the car, working or just out and about I'll listen on my iPod. I've converted it to take 2 x 500gb sad cards so I have all my music collection in lossless and available on the fly. The live bootlegs are on my iPod. I sometimes stream the NPG music club albums as my official downloads from the day are not in great quality. I really don't like the streaming model. Occasionally I will stream to get a preview of an album that I haven't bought yet. I think I've ended up buying any album I've streamed "Lianne le havas, parliament, Glenn Hansard". It can be good for listening to an artists catalogue before going to a concert so you get more familiar with their music. Call me old Skool, but I think streaming is not the same commitment to your favourite artists and the streaming companies are a bit of a scam. Technologically they are great, but you are reliant on your phone with a good data plan. I still love looking through a record shop and not knowing what I'll come out with.

I listen to vinyl rips of his ‘80s stuff because the digital masters sound awful, stream the rest. Prince: 1958-infinity. Thank U for everything.
