Rolling Stones Gig - a new-ish(?) photo Brownmark released a photo on his Facebook. To me, it's new, but maybe it was out before. I've included the caption as well. I assume maybe it's in Allen's photobook? I don't know. Anyone?
#therollingstones show. My concert with #prince. He wasn’t happy. His face tells the story. However, when e got to Pittsburgh’s #stanleytheaterthe #purplefamily was in full force and we felt the love. Full story will be in my upcoming book.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

I take it he meant his first concert with Prince? I don't think I knew that. What a debut.
Man, those fans. At least Prince wore PANTS for the occasion! Some people are never happy...

It's Brownmark's quote, so "my" is a first-person reference.
And to respond to E319, I agree. I sort of wish The Revolution as a whole would write a book, the way Motley Crue or the original MTV VJs did, each telling their side of a story. That would be pretty amazing.

Except the leader isn’t here to tell his. It would be like Mötley writing a book and Nikki Sixx not being part of it. Paisley Park is in your heart

Excellent color photo by Allen from when Prince opened for the Stones.
The quality is so clear it looks as though it could have been taken yesterday.
Prior to this photo the only photo we saw from this moment in time was black and white grainy.
I am excited for Allen's book. |

Oh I know that, I'm just wondering if he forgot to include the word 'first' in there. "My concert with Prince" is an odd thing to say.

Incorrect. To say Prince's is the most important part diminishes everyone else there and their role. You think Prince was the only one dodging raw chicken and beer bottles? Think again. Hell, even Wendy was there backstage. She told the story on her and Lisa's Luxuriaradio show back in 2009. Lisa recorded interviews with Wendy, Bobby, and Matt (Mark wasn't available I think) and they all told their sides of it. She did a great job editing it all together, adding some music or sound effects. It was like listening to an audiobook. And that is why I want The Revolution to write their own book. They all have their view of a story, but to have them spliced together in sections like that would be fantastic; a quick cross-reference the way Motley Crue did or the MTV VJ book.
Just because Prince isn't part of it doesn't make the story less compelling. This story has been told and retold without ever hearing Prince say shit about it for the most part. How would a book now about The Revolutions time together be any different? If Prince were alive, he'd not participate because we know how he was, so now is just as good of a time as anything.
But to get The Revolution to talk about everything from 1979 on up through 1987 or so like that would be exciting as fuck. All the Susannah stuff, the favoring of the girls, Matt staying on after Parade, Dez's exit and Wendy coming into the band. All these little snips we hear in interviews on DVDs or radio shows, plus more would be in a book - stuff we've never heard. Prince would never tell the whole truth anyway. He'd tell his truth, which we know wasn't always 100% accurate. The Revolution would be respectful but blatantly honest at the same time.

Apparently security wasn't what it is now at that time... I only saw the Rolling Stones one time in my life and that was in 1997...and their fans don't play! Pearl Jam opened for the Stones and were booed and verbally abused by restless Stones' fans; if they had had beer bottles and raw chicken, they would have thrown them at Pearl Jam, no doubt! I'm not too bothered about any books but I get the impression we'd get stories closer to the truth than we'd have got from Prince. RIP |

You could probably argue secret shows don't count or something though.
