Anybody know Prince Favorite Concert Guitar Amp(s)? What Brand he liked or used the most? Any guess how many Watts he would typical be using in small venue as in 6/4/2014 Hit and Run Part II Tour @ the Roundhouse - London, England (3,300 Sold Out) as compared to arena like the 1/18/2011 Welcome 2 America Tour @ Madison Square Garden in New York City (18,256 Sold Out)? And who design/made his pedal board configuration? |

Nah a Purple Rain Day in West Texas. A Guitarist in Dallas is getting ready for The Purple Throwdown and he was wondering if I knew what Amp Prince liked the most : Marshall, Orange, Vox, Fender, Mesa/Boogie, Friedman, Boss, Yamaha, Ibanez, etc.???
I suppose Donna and Ida would know and some of his other past band members would know especially Morris Hayes. |

It's fairly well documented. He's used all sorts of gear over his long career - Soldano, Mesa Boogie, Orange, no doubt others. No idea about the specific shows you mentioned, if it is important to you I guess you could reach out to his guitar tech at the time. His rig was generally very simple and based around simple Boss stomp boxes maintained by his tech, but of course it changed a lot over the years.
I love that about his playing - anyone can buy a "Prince guitar rig" for reasonable money, but no one will sound like Prince. It's all in the fingers |

idk about favorite. he used mainly mesa boogies from the controversy tour until the nude tour. then did an ever changing rack setup from diamonds and pearls until musicology. his last known amp setup from 2014-2016 was:
Soldano Lucky 13 amp head (clean channel only)
Mesa Boogie 4x12 cab
Pedalboard:
Left Side
- Vibrato VB-2
- Flanger BF-2
- Digital Delay DD-6
- Octaver OC-2
- Turbo Distortion DS-2
- Blues Driver BD-3
Right Side
- Chromatic Tuner
- Dunlop CryBaby Wah Pedal
- Digitech Whammy Pitch Shifting Pedal
- MXR M-133 Micro Amp
- Line 6 MM4 Modulation Modeler

also you can sound like prince tone wise. all you need to know is his gear. now when you play, there's a high chance that what comes out of the amp will NOT sound as good lmao. |

This reminds me of Prince’s comment in that 2004 Guitar Player interview: https://sites.google.com/...-july-2004“That’s why I don’t like to talk about gear. People will go out and buy that stuff thinking it’s going to make them sound like me, and that’s not where it’s at. Go get your own stuff and come up with your own sounds. If you need a path to follow, a good place to start is by listening to Ike Turner—he was as tight as they come—or James Brown, who is all about rhythm. Put any colors you’ve learned from Joni Mitchell on top of that, and then you’ve got something!” Paisley Park is in your heart

You need to settle yourself. You get what you give in this world, so watch your mouth with people on here and be respectful. You can challenge a question without making a personal insult. That reflects your character, not mine. You should also look up the word "humor" in the dictionary. It's a wonderful word.
While you're looking things up, Google "Prince guitar pedalboard". It's been in magazines which - wait for it - are online too!

oh do shut up. I am well aware of the form on here...where good questions are trampled on by the usual snobs & self appointed super fans. You typify that attitude. The attitude here is 'how dare you ask a question when all you have to do search the topic or google it'! FFS - why? Its a good way of engaging & building a rapport with the community....if you wnat to search then fine ..& if you want to ask a quick qestion then go ahead. |

You (not you pesonally, just "you") can buy everything Prince used at a particular time - guitar, pickups, strings, cables, stomp boxes, and amps but you will not sound like Prince.
He took all that stuff and fiddled with it in every way imaginable.
He reversed stuff, and changed stomp box orders, etc etc etc. If you ever replicate Prince's sound it will be because you just got lucky. |

My response was based solely in humor, as was your reply which was my only goal. It certainly beat the "do you think Prince clipped his own toenails?" sorta shit we see on here. lol
As for the child who got corrected acted... well, like a child.
