Except I can't afford the $14 admission to the event. Strange but true. Welcome to "the org", heartpeacesheart…

Cherrywood already has a book for sale: PRINCE CHALLENGE BOOK$28.00"The Prince Cherrywood Challenge" generated 388 entries of amazing quilts! With the actual quilts being sent to us as we speak, we are starting photography and design for the collector book. This year we will have THREE traveling exhibits so we can keep more quilts! This means a nice big book of 165 inspirational works of art, creating a one-of-a-kind tribute to the late Prince Rogers Nelson. Each quilt will have an overall photo along with two detail shots to show of incredible techniques. The artist writes a statement about their inspiration and process to make the quilt, which adds so much to the project. The variety, creativity and workmanship of all these small (20" x 20") quilts is truly inspiring - whether you are a quilter or a fan of Prince or both. GREAT conversation piece and GREAT gift!

Sorry all, could not make it to the live show due to circumstances beyond my control. Was really planning to go and take some pics. Thank you to all who have added links to other threads, pics, sales, etc.

I went to the show and will post some photos. Thanks for the original post. I had no idea it was being held. I go to Norfolk-Va. Beach every other weekend almost.
This is the first place quilt. Up close, you can see details that give an idea of the work put into the quilts. I have tried to quilt (once or twice) but never seriously. My sister who is a quilter was impressed with this one. Looks just like Prince, she said. What do you think?

WOW. Thank you so much rvafanatic for posting all those great photos!! Each one is wonderful and different. Prince Picasso Purple Period, haha, love. Starfish & Coffee is great too, with the circular quilting. I like the Icon of Music where his face looks like a painting, the eyes are so real on that one. All so unique. The fabric colors are very rich, Prince would like. "if you can't clap on the one, then don't clap at all"

Thank you so much for showing us the beautiful upclose pictures. They are amazing!

Adding a few more that show how they were displayed in the room.
The quilt posters sold out before I got there. The lady attending the exhibit said they only brought about 25 posters with them. I think the images on the poster were too small to appreciate the works. They also had the purple and black fabric packet that the contestants had to use for $20. I have no ties to the company. Just love Prince and happy to see him honored by so many.
One more post after this one!!

OMG they are all just stunning! So many different concepts. The one with the raindrop splashing up into the the shape of the crown - wow. I really can't choose a favorite. Love the weeping guitars too. That artist really used color well. They pop. "if you can't clap on the one, then don't clap at all"

Thank you for posting the up close shots. As an artist and a person who crochet I was so truly impressed and touched by these. I have always looked at quilting but never imagined this level of detail. Hats off to these artist using their hands to create beauty in the memory of Prince.
