NPG Performing at First Avenue Sept 13 | Worldwide Digital PPV planned for $9.99 - Part II Other thread self-locked http://prince.org/msg/12/455360
PRINCE’s NPG (The New Power Generation) will perform at the legendary First Ave. in Minneapolis for the very Princely sum of $31.21. The event will also be televised via PPV by Live Alliance.
The event is simply titled “Celebrating PRINCE”.
http://www.drfunkenberry....ppv-event/ The decision to get involved in the event was an easy one, says Live Alliance president Nate Parienti. “[Prince’s] songbook is one of the most influential and important in American music and we’re happy to help share this interpretation of it with the world,” he said. As far as the potential audience, Parienti added, “with the worldwide fan base of NPG and the music of Prince, as well as some special guests, there hopefully will be several thousands of fans tuning in to the broadcast, both live and on demand. We have a number of plans for this concert over the next several years. Profitability will result over various distribution of the content.” Among the plans are a broadcast on cable television and eventual DVD release with additional footage. “Celebrating Prince” is coordinating with the PRN Alumni Foundation, a non-profit comprised of Prince employees, for a fundraising effort. Proceeds from merchandise sales, including special commemorative T-shirts designed by Prince’s longtime art designer Steve Parke, and meet-and-greet packages with NPG, will go to the various charities and underprivileged youth Prince supported. https://www.billboard.com...-interview

Paid for the HD Stream. It was pretty much an hour of buffering and skipping. I checked back in around the time Cobi went up and the stream was steady, but lower quality. There was a Facebook post by The NPG thst had over 200 comments, and I think it was deleted. I also commented on a post by the stream provider nugs net, and that chain was deleted too. Not a happy camper. It's only $15, but it was a very poor foray into this type of content delivery. Hope they make it right. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Most of us understand the basic mechanics of streaming. Source the video, encode on location and upload to streaming server node that distributes to subordinate stream nodes, or stream raw video to be encoded at the server farm. Since so many people were having similar issues, I think the problem was with the con delivery to clients. Just guessing, though. If that ends up true, then the source should be high quality. I'm concerned, however, that they changed the encoding during the broadcast to lower quality to save bandwidth. If they restream that, then the first half would look good, but the second half will have the video motion blur/streaks that were there in the second half of the live stream. My major problem is that the FB posts with people complaining were nuked. The posts with people praising the show remain. The silence regarding all the issues is a problem as well. NPG posted on Facebook about an hour or two ago that a clean stream is up and available for the next 24 hours. Appreciate them trying to make it right. I'll check it out later tonight. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Stream seems clean enough now, althought at least for me, half the show is missing!
After 55mins, it glicthes and goes to a title card for 30mins, and the restarts the show from the beginning. Eye like pretty things, and u're just as pretty as u can b... | |

I am surprised Prince never developed a concert streaming platform. It could work if he gotbexperts and not the maintenance guy to run it. No More Haters on the Internet. |

Hi just logged into Nugs TV and it appears they posted a new version with over 3 hrs which may include the 5 song encore. Appears to be working since I was able to forward past the 56 minute mark. | |

Streams are working fine got to view the whole thing straight yesterday with no issues, the extra footage however is not there, no encore, just a blank screen. Suggestion, like someone said PLAY this on a laptop, major issues have been on other devices. What was that live event he did in movie theaters called? Yes I'm very bad on tech terminology bear with me. I did go to that event at a theater here. I loved it and wondered why he didn't do more. Had to be a pain to pull off but you would think with the improvements in tech such a thing is easier. Time keeps on slipping into the future...
