BUtt he song came out before 87!!! Lyrics sites list it as: "I bought a '87's Cadillac Seville" but what does "87's" mean??

The synth solo parts after the breakdown are insane!!! I wonder if Jimmy and Monte ever tried to play that part live. I doubt anyone but Prince could.

I think the lyrics are sometimes just about what fits. This has been talked about with the number 7 o 17. Seven has another syllable and can fill a beat instead of just stretching out an existing note.

Plus, he's just that cool.

BTW, here is what the car ended up looking like in real life:
