Short documentary in French on how Marie France ended up on "Girls & Boys"

https://www.arteradio.com..._du_prince

.

Un documentaire de Silvain Gire

.

.

Rough translation to English via Google:

.

Marie-France is a costume designer in Hollywood. In the mid-80s she worked with Prince, notably imposing the famous jersey shirt in 'Purple Rain'. One night, Prince summons her to his Paisley Park studio: he needs a French translation for 'Girls and Boys', from his future album 'Parade' and the movie 'Under the cherry moon'. The sequel belongs to the (small) history of pop.

.

Click the link to hear her tell the story in French (approx. 4.5 minutes).

Nope.
Bart, you missed a major error in that story.
HUGE timeline error.

Here's what she's said, not her exact words, but a summary. She was asked to come to the recording studio, was handed a page with some text and told to translate it. She did, though she did it in a not so colloquial French.
.
She was then asked to recite it for the recording, and thought she'd done OK (Wendy & Lisa cheered her on afterwards) but wanted to have another go at it now that she'd loosened up and had more of a grip on the text. But Prince told her the first take was great.
.
She later asked to be paid for her work, since this was outside of her job description (clothing designer), and was told she'd get the regular fee for a studio musician's session. When she still hadn't gotten a check after ten months, she raised the issue with her manager.
.
Later, Prince told her that his manager had advised him to pay her a big check, in exchange for her signing away her rights. She was able to buy a Mercedes with that money.
.
(I might have gotten some of the details wrong; my French is OK but not that great.)

^ For someone as nitpicky as you Bart, that is a major miss! Paisley Park wasn't even completed then!!!

It's time for us to tell you to Google it! Perhaps you can remember this next time you're tempted to flame an orger asking a question!

Oh look, false equivalency. Overlooking a detail because I was focused on translating the French into English versus being too lazy to do any bit of research is of course exactly the same.

Oh look, a personal attack because you can't argue about the facts, because you'd be admitting I was right.

Not really Bart, focusing on translation is all about accuracy too and losing the bigger picture by overlooking such a big mistake is more than a schoolboy error haha! Especially from someone with your reputation! It's fine but just be a bit more humble next time you jump to criticise other people on here as you are not perfect!!!
