. The estate is also crippled by the lack of a will and the uncertainty WRT ownership of the vault's contents (i.e. does Warners have a claim WRT the songs recorded pre-1996 as being recorded a spart of a WBR contract). © Bart Van Hemelen

. Prince is dead. WB has no active CONtract w.r.t. releases to be produced. So they might want licensing/royalties/etc for any vault stuff, they do not dictate whatever is released I hope. Where is the 'creative freedom'?

Same thing as what the Jackson estate is doing, they need to make the money now so that people with a history and attachment to the music can spend, they might be surprised how easily they make a profilt.

The over 50 crowd don't have much to complain about from my perspective. When is the last time the estate did anything to attract us younger folks? When have they released anything NPG related? Since 2016 EVERY RELEASE has been targeted at those old enough to be my parents and grandparents. I have yet to see anything released that is my age and after it. The Prince 4Ever CD had just 2 NPG songs on it. The only non 80s stuff that I have seen come out was Mayte's Book. You guys have gotten the an Expanded and Deluxe versions of Purple Rain with a DVD. The most favorite book about the studio sessions of 1984 by Duane Tudahl. From my side of the age scale? You guys are getting handed stuff left and right. Personally I'm tired of having the 70s and 80s stuff thrown my way with the expectation that I'm suppose to buy it and be just as thrilled when it doesn't even relate to my era. I love old school but not when it being done as unbalanced as this is. In my mind the heirs and those running the estate don't care one bit about us younger folks or the kids yet to be born. They are only focusing on the older crowd.

. To state the obvious: these are done in a way that the PR thing should have been done as was their idea at some point in time. The fact of the way they actually released PR shows they are in a parallel universe.

As you always tell people: don't make up shit. Sales were more than "a few thousand" and you have never been able to provide a single element of evidence supporting your theory that Prince wanted to, but could not get a major distributor (or that Kobalt dropped Prince, as you've often claimed). Just stick to the fact or, when offering a personal theory, make it clear that it's just that. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I'll be 51 in a few days. Hell, I don't have forever to wait for things to be released at a slow pace. They should release around three albums a year, starting with the early 1980s material and then start on the late 1980s past the "Purple Rain" era. Once they make it past the 1980s material, I could care less what they release. . We're the ones that made Prince a star so we're the ones that should get the jams while we're still living. These little brats today could care less about Prince music and the brats of the future could care even less. Even if his music does make a huge impact in the distant future, why the hell should I care? I won't be around to hear it. Give it to me while I'm still here. . . . By the standards of Dylan's Bootleg Series, one release a year is unfortunately pretty good. The upcoming release is #14, in a series that started in 1991. It's also - just now - covering the alternate version of his most beloved album, which is bonkers. 27 years to release music most Dylan fans expected a long time ago. . Does any other artist, alive or dead, run their own npgmc-style music club? Truly asking, I have no idea. Given the volume of Prince's unreleased music, it seems like a no brainer, to make money off the collections too obscure for the general public to buy. Let alone the general public in 2043. .
My fears: 1. faux albums, like Sony has credited to Michael Jackson. 2. historically incorrect collections, like the Warners PR Deluxe - which shoe-horned in songs that had nothing to do with Purple Rain, 3. more 35 minute morsels, because Piano and Microphone 1983 got good reviews, and appears to have sold well.

It makes sense, you don't want to saturate the market. Almost kind of the same thing that WB was telling P in the early 90's, make each release an event.

Do you have proper/sourced evidence that Prince actually tried to have any of the 3 majors to distribute the record and that they all (intitially) declined? If you do, please provide it. . You are usually providing factual contributions to this board and you know I respect you for that and appreciate those contrubutions. But when it comes to making a point that Prince was over and done, a personal agenda that you have been pursuing for many years for yet-to-be-elucidated reasons, you have been known to twist events or, at best, draw definitive conclusions from very vague circumstantial evidence. All I'm asking is that you please refrain from doing that. There are too many people talking nonsense and trying to bend reality to their wishes in this community. I know you have the judgement not to do that, and when you don't your contributions are really valuable, so please just don't A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/
