If you genuinely feel that way about something than no one should be able to change your mind about it. We all differ with artists and what we like, right now people love the new Janet Jackson song me personally, it’s not interesting but if you love it nothing I say should change your mind.

Speaking of which--I noticed the mention of the podcast in Doozer's signature for the first time earlier today. Has it been there for a while? Doozer, how long have you been doing this podcast? And I love the title (Mountains is the Prince song I've had on replay in my head constantly for the last two days).

Phase One was Josh's interpretation of Prince's music;I like a couple of songs from it but IMO PhaseII and AOA top that.

Actually, HnR Phase 1 IS in fact Prince’s greatest album...EVER!
“Let’s Go Crazy” doesn’t compare to the bop of an opener that “Million Dollar Show” is!
“June” is his best album closer.
“Shut This Down”, “This Could B Us”, “HardRockLover” are all KILLER TRACKS

I’ll say it one more time: this is his greatest album ever! Change my mind

You’re joking, right?

I have a huge issue with anyone saying that anything Prince did was "shit." He was a true artist, and a gifted musician. His lackluster material still put to shame many artists' best material.

Phase One was an experiment. Did it work for everyone? Obviously it didn't. I personally enjoy the majority of the tracks on it. I think it flows quite nicely. Do I have issues with parts of it? Yes I do, mainly with the idea of including a "cuss word" on a track, but then editing it out which, for me, killed a pretty good song right at the end of it.

I think art is subjective, absolutely. Prince created a LOT of albums. I wouldn't put Phase One in my Top 20, let alone declare it his greatest.

I would highly suggest listening to some other Prince albums that would definitely change your mind. Start with every album from 1980 to 1988. If any of those don't change your mind, then I don't know what to tell you.

I completely agree! I don't love the first 4 songs, but the rest of the album is very good. Certainly not his greatest album. The OP must be a newbie.

I’ve been here since...like 2015 or something

Yep, definitely a newbie lol

Has it not occurred to you that the voice you've read my post in is in fact the voice in your head? It's your voice, it bears your tone, and your judgement values. Are you trying to be my friend? Because you've got an interesting way of going about it. I'm ok with this, I can work with this, this is what we do. I do this. (That's an ICP reference. Get it?) Or am I wrong? Are you hurt or offended by something I said? Have I wronged you somehow? Are you upset? Do you feel trolled? As your friend, I feel obliged to inform you that if you said "yes" to any of these questions, you might be misattributing things to me which do not exist. If you don't understand what that means, how about don't sit there and tell me I'm both somehow subjective and also wrong. You can't have it both ways. So what's it going to be, chummer? I am The House. And The House says the door is open. Are you going to walk in here, fuck my shit up, and steal my properties? Ok, that's rude. We could also just chill. If I think I'm someone who thinks they're deeper than they actually are, then clearly I must dig deeper. I died once, true story. Listen... everything I've said in this thread... you must read in a voice with a friendly tone. And before you interrupted me, a youthful jubilence. You're abrasive, I'm sure you already know that. I understand I can be abrasive as well. I can understand you, I need you to understand me. If you don't understand me, we can't be friends. If we can't be friends, then you best get to stepping because you're in my way. Are you good?

I personally think that Phase One is shit. There's two good songs on there but the rest is really, really shit. But that's just my opinion. If you think it's his best album, and IF that really is your genuine opinion, then why would you want anyone to change your mind? The fact that you would even ask that of other people suggests to me that you're just taking the piss and trying to get folks to argue amongst themselves over an already divisive album. And if that's what you're doing, then that makes you a very, very sad individual. On the other hand, if you are genuine and you ACTUALLY want people to change your mind on Phase One, then I'd say you're a bit simple in the head. So basically, you're either a "troll" with no life or you're a bit of a fool. Either way, congratulations on the stupidity. razz

yeahthat

Absolutely bloody awful album, not a single track on it that I can listen to. Probably, for me, his worst, although it's a photo finish between that and AOA.
