Which the people behind it make quite clear! And in the articles. Relax and enjoy it! But that’s the issue... it’s not particularly enjoyable (for me). Interesting yes. Enjoyable... not so much. KingSausage said: I pre-ordered the deluxe set from Amazon in June 7. I was notified today that the shipment would be delayed until October. At first I was pissed because I’m just an angry MF like that. But I’m okay with it. They credited my order. I listened to the whole “album” on streaming, and it’s very underwhelming. I’ve had — and ignored — the bootleg for decades. I’m going to buy it on iTunes for completist’s sake. I can’t imagine the liner notes in the deluxe set are anything special. Thanks, Amazon, for saving me $20+ today. I’ll spend it on something more interesting than private noodling. Same. I kept the order placed, though. It’s still $10 cheaper than anywhere else. Wouldn’t feel like a Prince release without some kind of logistical screwup somewhere along the line. Piano & a Crystal Ball, 2018. Of course if its not for you, thats fine. But the range of his voice is what i am enjoying the most from. We prince fans have heard an incredible amount of material over the years. And i feel we have been spoilt somewhat. There is still enjoyment to be had with this. With his voice and some of the playing.

All I have to say is the sound quality on here SMOKES the "Intimate Moments" boots that I've had over the years, so I'm happy. This is just the beginning of a (hopefully) long campaign. Why the fuck can't you people ever be satisfied? Yes, his vault recordings and deluxe editions should have happened years ago. They're happening now. Why can we rejoice when a better source of a previously available boot comes out, but this is considered garbage? Is it table scraps compared to other stuff that we know is in the vault? Yes. But goddamn it, he's gone now. This album sounds like he's right here in my room. Keep your headphones on.

I'm loving it and I was so annoyed when first announced. I'm so pleased to have it. Yes there is tape hiss but it still sounds great. I just hope we don't have to wait too long before we get another release fro Warner and the estate.

Tape hiss is good. Noise reduction is bad. The presence of tape hiss on this release should be praised because it means they didn’t mess with the sound too much, at lest in that way. People who like the tone of the piano and vocals should be relieved that there’s tape hiss. Removing the tape hiss would also alter the tone of the music. Folk compained A LOT about ONA Live. One major complaint was that it sounded 'flat' in its dynamics. I remember they even derided JIR vs JMI from Small Club. "Climb in my fur."

Had planned on buying it even though I was already disappointed with the idea of it being stripped down. I mean, it's damn ridiculous to release stripped down, early stages, or "Liberace versions" to fans of a funk/rock artist simply to show how "talented his was in his creative process". Hell, we all know how talented he was so there's no need to try to prove it. I guess next they'll release a recording of him sitting on a toilet and praise the sound of him farting before the turd splashes into the water. I can hear the raves now....."Oooo...listen to the way he grunts while he's straining to get it out. Nobody grunts like that! Pure GENIUS!". . I couldn't find a place that had it in stock that was close enough for me to drive to and come back on my lunch hour so I didn't buy it. But I did come home and "find" it though and was even more disappointed than I originally thought I was going to be. Do I plan on driving up there and buying it today? Nope? . That's alright though. Y'all keep on buying stuff like this and they'll give you more of it and you'll never get any jams. I guess I'll have to treat whoever makes the decisons on these releases the same way I treated Prince in his later years which is.... "If it can't make me sweat in my suit, it ain't getting none of my loot.". Either throwdown or sit down. Andy is a four letter word.

I love it for what it is— an intimate time with Prince playing his piano just for his own enjoyment with some familiar and unfamiliar tracks (to me) in their early incarnation. Never heard the bootlegs and great to finally hear these. Looking forward to more of these types of recording in the future. "I want to be the only one you come for...."

Received my "official bootleg" in the mail yesterday. Checked the packaging and was already smacked down by the logo of with "the Prince estate" under it. I had the same feeling as many others while listening, that this release was unneccessary and a wasted space on cd for much more valuable Prince music. I just feel even more depressed about the whole situation! They really DO NOT have a clue as to what is of value to the fans.
Now, where did i save that "17 Days" extended version they failed to put on PRD... "Whatever skin we're in

I guess it would be fair to also say that the estate might have wanted the new fans to feel like they could discover the process in which Prince made his music. For me, i was over the moon to discover a recording like this back in the day. But, now that he is gone, it just breaks my old ass heart! I guess i'm in a different demographic "Whatever skin we're in

I like P&M 1983. It’s raw. I’m not a fan of the b-side 17 Days, but I like the version on this album. . I feel that this album is great for Prince’s legacy. Prince never sold as many albums as The Beatles, Michael Jackson, or Elvis. He is not going to win a popularity contest. However, Prince is very much in the conversation of the greatest musical geniuses and innovators of the 20th century (and to a lesser extent, the 21st century). P&M 1983 is highly effective at fitting into and bolstering the narrative of “Prince as musical genius” and “Prince as a 20th/21st century Mozart” because the album showcases Prince’s mastery of jazz piano. This album is Prince’s first jazz album. He passes the test for being able to play jazz music on piano with flying colors. This album further supports the importance of his musical legacy as a legacy that is worthy of study and analysis. Live 4 Love ~ Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above

Regarding 17 Days: “The power he pumps into the piano keys is visceral, and he adds scintillating jazz riffing that fuels and propels the song’s basic two-chord structure. It also appears as if he’s still clearly working out the lyrics (“The rain comes down, down, down” is repeated throughout, and punctuated with a vocalese rainbow of syllabic accents and interjections.)” . Review: Prince’s ‘Piano & a Microphone 1983’ showcases his musical brilliance By RANDY LEWIS, SEP 21, 2018 LA Times Link: http://www.latimes.com/en...story.html . “Many of the songs here show Prince playing wide jazz chords on the piano, beatboxing drum lines and trying different vocal approaches. I can't believe certain fans are boycotting this.
#1 on Digital Sales and #1 on CD & Vinyl right now.
Imagine how good it would be if he could actually debut at #1 on Billboard 200.
We could be getting SO MUCH more material and faster. If the sales are bad there's little chances they release more albums in short period of time.
