I am hearing about a ghost writer...is there any chance someone has been hired to complete it? It has been done with other celebs that have passed before completing their memoirs...

Whatever they do, I want those original 50 pages, as he wrote them. Scanned photos. Hopefully longhand on notebook paper, cross-outs, and all the cool trippiness of his mind. They can do whatever they want with the rest of the book.
And the MUSIC continues...forever...

Amen, don't need any other people in there on it. Only want his actual thoughts and dreams. Hopefully they will not screw this up for us.

I always thought the way these things were done was via recorded interviews and then the "ghost writer" goes away and compiles the book. It just seems strange to picture P sat with pen and paper or at a laptop writing it himself. Maybe they could release the pages as part of a larger book bringing together hand written letters, song lyrics etc. A book was released when Kurt Cobain died that was like a scrapbook of unreleased stuff, it was great.

I think Tyka said he called her one night regarding their ancestry because he was writing the book?

I cant imagine P doing recorded interviews with a ghost writer when he wouldnt allow journalists to record.

Prince said he was working with his "brother", Dan and was looking forward to it as Dan was not a "yes man" according to Prince.

That is awesome to hear. To be perfectly honest I heard about him writing his memoirs before he passed away and I cynically was like , "Oh yeah right, like he is gonna be honest and real." I wasn't super excited at the time because I just assumed it was gonna be a bunch of fluff. But now I think it's a treasure and am very curious how that beautiful , artistic mind really worked. I am very curious how HE perceived his life and how he felt about things. I wish he was able to finish it. He had an amazing life here, learned so much and gave to others.

That would be wonderful. I hope somebody listens and realize that would be a great feature.

don't know what makes you think that, self bios are usually full of deciet and self-mythology, and that's just run of the mill celebs, Prince was never even half as open and honest as the rest of the celebs. Aretha Franklin had a bio where she basically took the money and wrote what she wanted to and it was basically not a bio. Common. Only Bruce Springsteen has done a bio that I would say had a good balance to it in my readings.

Good point. I meant it would've been great if he'd have been open and honest about his past. He seemed to be opening up to the past in the final few months. So maybe the bio would've been the same. Then again, he had the mystique and legacy to protect.

True, the mystery/ mystique was important and part of what made him "Prince" but if there is one thing I've learned throughout all this is when it comes to Prince, be willing and open to being surprised .

and fifty pages of which we don't even know how much will actually be publishable or worthwhile, it doesn't sound like a winner to me. He only made the announcement for the book a few weeks before he died after all, not a lot of time when you're a busy rockstar.

I remember reading an article last year that his 50 page memoir was suppose to be published this year. I guess that the estate has not yet decided on it.

you would be surprised how much one can write in two weeks. If he wrote 3 -4 pages a day, he could easily meet the 50 pages. I am not sure how well edited they would be however. If he approached the publishers (can't remember if he had or not), he might have already started. I hope it is worthwhile. I HOPE.
