Playlist for a 7 year old...?

I introduced my Grandson to Prince via Starfish and Coffee when he was 5....

once he knew all the lyrics I moved on to

then

Strollin, ( we sing "buy a nerdy magazine smile )

I wish you Heaven

la la la he hee hee he thinks this song is hysterical and barks right on time lol

then

I feel for you...(we mime this together, putting our hands on our hearts and pointing to each other..baby baby when I look at you I get a warm feeling inside....)

then

Mellow...

then we got into dancing...

Housequake....If you want to feel real JOY Dance to that with a kid who is free anduninhibited..

Can anyone Please help me out with suggestions for kiddish Lyrically tame songs ?

Tough one. My son likes the ones with funny voices and noises (X's Face, Breakfast Can Wait, Good Love, etc).

Maybe "$" and that Happy Feet Song

I raised my kids on Prince. My daughter sang with him twice when she was 8, so here are the songs my kids really liked at that age:

Wedding Feast - Their all-time favorite, because they thought it was hilarious
Endorphinmachine - They called it "Go Baby"
Mia Bocca - Not Prince, but my kids dug it
Life O' the Party - Daughter sang it with Prince a couple times
Take Me With U - She sang that one too but they liked it because it's my favorite song and I played it 1,000,000 times
Everybody Loves Me - This came out after my kids were grown, but I think all kids would like this

Oddly, Animal Kingdom came to mind as something a kid might like, just for the weird voice and the animal noises. Then again, why subject your poor child to that song?

How about Sexy MF? Just kidding.

As a side suggestion.

On Halloween (for the Americans here), rig up speakers outside your front door and blast No More Candy 4 U on a loop.

I have 5 and 7 year old girls. I listen to mostly Prince around them. Clean stuff of course. My oldest gravitated towards HnR1. The X's Face is her fave. My youngest is absolutely obsessed with Purple Rain. Asks for it every time we get in the car.

I'm glad posts like this are archived. It's not that someone can't post it again, but there are jumping off points to expand from.
