Samples/Covers of Prince songs by P/Other Artists I stumbled upon a site that lists songs Prince himself sampled and songs of his covered by other artists. Yes, I know there is the usual Sinead O'Connor (NC2U) and I Feel 4 U, but its taken me down some interesting Youtube searches of more obscure covers of his catalog.
Not sure how they credited some of the songs Prince had sampled. Some I know from album liner notes, but others left me scratching my head.
For example:

You might be interested in this Spotify playlist I made some years ago with covers of Prince songs by other artists. It's not complete but it's over 20 hours.

Sometimes they get confusing by labeling replayed parts as samples. For example in that case Entrance Of The Gladiators was obviously replayed, not sampled from a recording. Similarly they will credit the Music Id The Key rap in Cindy C as a sample while it was in fact a new recording of Cat rapping it. . How they manage to identify very little samples such as the 1 second Double Barrell sample in C&D is a complete mystery to me. What is cool is that the site lets you know exactly when the sample was taken in the original and when it is used, so it allows one to identify them easily. . Ha! I never knew Colonized Mind was a rip-off of an oldie On the other hand Prince was ripped off so often and by so many artists, I can't blame him. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

In Per Nilsen's A Documentary book from 1989, there's a list of all the Prince covers that were known to exist back then: it hardly took a page, it's almost shocking of few of them there were back then. It's crazy because now, I guess it would take 10 pages. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I'm not sure that one is a sample, though.
