That would be totally amazing and off the scale!!!
This was such an awesome show. We were all so very tighly packed in the audience and it was so very hot. We waited for Prince for ages, but it was worth the wait.
I remember Mayte all night did the same repetitive dance move over and over... she looked knackered, particularly as it was so hot in there!!!
Do you remember when she crowd surfed? I was right at the front, and at over 6 foot, found myself passing her back by the (Forest Gump voice) b-u-t-t-o-c-k-s.
I seem to remember he bought up onto stage a handful of women from the sudience to dance - meanwhile Mayte still did her repetitive move looking knackered!
Do I remember this correctly?
Good lord that was a f**king amazing night!!!!!!!!!! and so Hottttt.
WOW
(ps, aftershow at the Hippodrome on 27 August (am) was also mindblowing!)

just looked up the emporium show on princevault. wow! i never knew they performed the entire undertaker album (sans dolphin). i think this is the only time he performed an album in it's entirety in the original sequence, right?
anyway, that show looks freaking amazing. i'm gonna have to dive into my drives to check if i have this somewhere and give it a thorough listen.
also: entrance was just 20 pounds. man, those were the days!
After hearing Poor Goo on this new leak I gave the Emporium shows a listen.
Would be awesome to have them in this quality but we can only dream... He's still teasing us from the after-life
It pains me that iconic shows like this are being overlooked. However we just don't know what is going on with the Estate.
Either way it will be a loooong time before something like this sees the light of day.
Thank goodness for the legggggers!

I think this is a great Prince compilation - a fun listen for me cause I didnt know about this record or tracks like Playtime, Good Life remix and the divine early version of Soul Sanctuary. A thoroughly good listen and has rekindled my interest in Prince mid 90's. |

I totally agree!
I do find that by taking tracks our of their original content / release, it does make songs seem different and can be appreciated all over again!

I like this collection of songs. They flow well together.
I've long thought that the Sandra St. Victor collaborations (except Van Gogh) were some of the better 1995 songs by Prince and I'll Never Be Another Fool was one of my favorite tracks on the Chaka Khan: Come 2 My House album, so I enjoy their inclusion here.
This collection must be, like, Prince's "gay album" with himself singing lyrics like "When I'm in the mood you got 2 B my dirty dude" and "I'll never open my legs again 2 a man who's insecure". I love it!
And Da Bang was a favorite on the 1998 Crystal Ball collection and this is like hearing it in its original context. It's great.
I suspect that I'll be listening to this collection for a bit even though I already know the songs.

I don't know guys, I like the this for sure. But, I would be just as disappointed if an official release of this was coming in September as I am about P&M83. They're BOTH great, and I want both of them in the best quality possible, but, neither would satisfy me as the first vault release or as the only release of the year. Just like P&M83, a release like this would make more sense as part of a larger release.
In my not-so-humble (and not very popular) opinion, of course...
as Bart was saying elsewhere, things like this and Camille would be perfect Record Store Day releases.
Lovin' this anyway. |

Wow, this is really cool! Too bad of the CD scratches at the beginning of the disc but still great!
I noticed that in a few places. Wondering if one of the "mastering" wizards could fix such a thing?
. I haven't heard/got it yet so I'm not sure about the nature of the issue, but I'm happy to have a go at restoring the audio if I'll find the track. . Most likely it's not due to CD scratches btw (you don't directly hear CD scratches – the glitches you hear in relation to physical damage are the results of overloading the error correction process), they can be reading errors originating from the bootlegger grabbing the audio off another disc, but anyway, I'll know more when I hear it. . I'm a bit confused by why and how this "album" was compiled. Apparently this was intended to be an in-house CD, only intended as a gift for Gianni and Donatella Versace. What I find odd is that the artwork leaves room for a barcode, which only makes sense if a commercial release was intended. On the other hand I fail to see how and why this would have been intended for even a limited release. Can anyone help me get to the bottom of this? |

Consensus among whom? (Not trying to start an argument -- except maybe in the most academic/empathetic sense -- just really want to know what you mean by that.)
Why does it logically follow that .wav files sourced from other formats means that the project is fan-made? Couldn't it simply mean that the compliation as we've found it is a second-generation boot?

Apparently whomever leaked it, leaked it as mp3. Someone along the line chose to convert the files to FLAC. Just because they're lossy doesn't mean they aren't sourced from the actual disc.

Well that's weird, because I only saw it as FLAC and there was no mention of someone first leaking it as MP3. "Don't need no Reefer. Don't need Cocaine. Purple Music does the same to my brain." |

I'm inclined to agree, that the comp is legit and was originally leaked as a set of mp3s. I also discovered it in FLAC form.

I'm no audiophile but some of these tracks sound to be well superior quality than previous so even if it is fan-made it's great to have.
.
Most notably Poor Goo; AFAIK this version from the Emporium was only available as a decent audience recording whereas on this set it sounds soundboard to my untrained ears. [Edited 8/1/18 2:50am] |

there are several 'versions' of this out there. there is a fanmade one, with just the outtake versions we had before, in rather bad quality, with varying sound throughout. but there's also the 'new' one which sounds great and has things we didn't have before, like the video version of '18 & over' and the soundboard of 'poor goo' in excellent quality.
maybe that's the one you're already talking about, but also maybe you checked the previous one?

The new one with the video version of 18 & Over & the SBD Poor Goo is lossy. The FLAC version is "upsampled" from the MP3. This has nothing to do with the source of the files, it just means someone converted the MP3 to FLAC (which is a "No No" amongst filesharers for obvious reasons).

No, we are both talking about the same 'good ones'. We can all agree that these sound much better than what we've had before, and it does include stuff that most of never have had before.
- But why have some of the tracks some sort of noise-filter applied, and others not?
- Why are 10 out of the 11 flac-files lossy sourced?
- Why not include scans of the 'real' artwork, instead of pictures that was used in the auction last year?
The orginal sharer behind the flac-files (I never saw, or heard of a mp3 leak) said "Yes." when he was asked "is this an actual pull straight from the 'Sex Clothes 4 The New Power Generation' disc ?".
Who knows what the real answer is (I'm sure it all can be explained naturally), but I guess these are the red flags that made some collectors sceptical.

The MP3 was shared with me before the FLAC was making the rounds and before there was a thread dedicated to the leak.
The person that shared it with me stated that it was from the actual disc with the exception of The Good Life which was sourced from the CD Single. I can only ASSUME that the reason that track was swapped was because of the "scratch" noises on some of the tracks, if Good Life was the exact same mix and the rip was flawed, I could see the choice being made to swap it out (even though that is not what I would do).
Are we certain that some tracks have "noise filter applied"? Is it possible that the flaws in the rip (the scratch noises) or some other artifact is being mis-diagnosed as noise filter? I'm not making an assertion, I'm just asking.
As for the art, that doesn't tell us anything. People rip and share CDs without scanning the art all the time. I can share rips without getting off my ass, but, I don't have a scanner handy so scanning my covers is a major hassle. I have ripped and backed up thousands of CDs in my collection but have only scanned covers for a handful. Maybe the leaker didn't bother with the hassle because the scans were already available?
For the record, I'm not participating in this discussion to prove anybody wrong. I have the same desire to sort through speculation and get to the facts as everybody else.

Yeah, it's still lossy so there's really no point other than to decieve.
That said, I have had occasion to back up lossy files to FLAC....
Back in the early days of file sharing I would convert MP3s I downloaded to WAV and burn to disc. Many of the original MP3s I downloaded are no longer in my possession. So, now as I am backing up my collection to my 8TB hard drive I occasionally back up a disc that was sourced from MP3. I don't want to reconvert to MP3 (multiple recompressions are NOT a good idea), so, I rip the discs to FLAC and label them in my drive as a transcode until such time as I can replace the files. Most importantly, I don't share them.
So, yeah, there can be a reason to upconvert, but, for the most part, no. It certainly does not improve the quality.

Thanks a lot for your reply and background info, djT!
I guess a swap could make sense based on what you're saying. But just to clarify, are you saying that your mp3 version sound exactly like the flac copy? The track with the most noticeable filter applied, is the first track. The same (flac) guy also shared a copy of 'Purple Music' which had same filter effect applied back in May.
No worries, we both want to get to the bottom of this
