PRINCE is featured on the cover of the latest Uncut magazine Prince is on the cover of the latest Uncut magazine. "The Purple One is on the cover, and inside, his closest collaborators and confidants explain how he made his greatest albums – from the storied run of ’80s classics, through the troubled ’90s testimonials up to his often-neglected later releases. “We were in the full throes of constant creativity,” one insider tells us." I am glad to see it. I probably won't read it because I imagine it will just discuss the 80's and the "untold" stories will be very much 'told" and it will be 80's contributors looking to remind folks of their importance in his career. But, any exposure is good as long as the narrative isn't advising people to basically ignore anything after 1990 . Rock magazines are a bit salicious sometimes so that line about nothing ever being normal is probably hyperbolic. I realize that magazine isn't just about him so of course having a ten best list is understandable but I am hoping for no narrative that is completely dismissive of latter day Prince (to me, that does Prince's image little good.). I kind of wish the whole article was just about the preview of his piano and microphone 1983.

[Edited 6/12/18 19:51pm] I expected something like this but it’s decent. More than the usual 80’s stuff. Got some new quotes from NPG members (Tony, Tommy, Morris & Sonny) discussing D&P and Symbol album. They talk how Sexy MF came about. . And some quotes from Ida and Donna about the 3EG era.

Well, this barely scratches the surface. Nothing revelatory WRT the couple of 1980s albums (in fact a lot of the article is barely about those albums, e.g. lotsa stuff about the Rolling Stones support performances), some bland stuff about D&P and , and then it skips to the 3EG era where we get a bunch of reheated stuff that mostly looks like it has been lifted from older interviews. And the one page about the upcoming Piano album is more of a review and offers little information. . IMHO not worth your time or money. © Bart Van Hemelen

Bart will you be monitoring the sales figures for this edition? You have previously stated that when Prince is on the magazine covers the sales are negatively impacted. Just saying (for fun) 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

I like that they used a Gold era shot for the cover. I feel like I hardly ever see pictures from this era featured. I think this was the cover of one of my first bootlegs. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

What kind of review did the Piano and microphone 83 get?

Annoyingly, a 1986 photo with Wendy incorrectly refers to Lisa and a 1993 photo is labelled as 1994. On the other hand, it's nice that they've devoted so many pages to Prince. "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

Positive: "Piano & Microphone 1983 is both an invaluable historical artefact and an outstanding work in its own right." "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

One sentence?

No! 😆 That sentence summarises the review. It's a full-page feature, although half is speculation as to future releases. The writer describes the individual tracks and marvels at Princes musicianship and singing. "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

[Edited 6/12/18 19:51pm] Wait until the Revolution arrives in Europe, their press is gonna worship them and kiss their ass so much, eventually they're gonna start trashing Prince... I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said.
