Who the fuck is John Prine??? Every single time I'm lookin at the Prince section in the second hand wrecka stow, he is always tucked away behind some dude called "John Prine" (On occasion, he is tucked away behind "Princess" that super sucessful 80's singer )
Anyone know who the fuck he is?? Put yourself on the worldwide org map! www.frappr.com/princeorg

John is a famous old folkie who has been around so long that Kris Kristofferson wrote a song for him in the early 1970's. It's quite the track I'll relay the lyrics for you.
Jesus Was a Capricorn (ode to John Prine) - By Kris Kristofferson. Jesus was a Capricon he ate organic food He believed in love and peace and never wore no shoes Long hair, beard and sandels and a funky bunch of friends 'reckon they'd just nail him up if he came down again cuz everybody's got to have somebody to look down on who they can feel better than at anytime they please someone doing something dirty decent folks can frown on if you can't find nobody else then help yourself to me Eggheads fussin and rednecks cussin hippies for their hair others laugh at straits who laugh at freaks who laugh at squares some folks hate the whites who hate the blacks who hate the klan most of us hate anything that we don't understand cuz everybody's got to have somebody to look down on who they can feel better than at anytime they please someone doing something dirty decent folks can frown on if you can't find nobody else then help yourself to me So there is a little rock/ country history for you...

See a TRUE FAM would be a John Prine fan as well, just because his CDs have the honor of being next to Prince's in the record stores...
Whats funny is I always see John Prine after Prince, but I can never recall what comes before Prince in the bins. [This message was edited Mon Mar 10 7:06:40 PST 2003 by Tom]

There were always 2 things that got me when I used to go shopping for Prince cassettes when I was a kid (for you youngins cassettes were the format used prior to the advent of cds ). One was the John Prine thing the other was a Robert Plant cassette that was always in close proximity to Prince that had a multi-colored j-card very similar to Around The World In A Day. Anyone else remember this?
